Question oil pressure gauge

i bought an autometer oil pressure gauge, but where can it be either hooked up alone or maybe a t-fitting on an oil line already present somewhere on the front or the back of the block. just a location for it to get a pressure reading. any1? its for a 2.0 ss s/c

A few people that own ecotec are having trouble finding a way to add an oil pressure gauge. The reason is becasue of the odd port sizes on the ecotec's head and block (12x1.75). most engines use 1/8, 1/4, ect.

Now most oil pressure senders are 1/8 at the threaded end. Solution...You bet ya! You can do 1 of 2 things...

1. Get a 12x1.75 bolt and tap a 1/8 hole in the center or...

2. Order the adapter from autometer (pn 2278) and thats a 12x1.75 to 1/8 fitting.

If space is an issue you can chose to purchase autometers oil line kit and remote mount your sender (pn 3227) This includes a stainleess line with AN fitting and a few diff brass fittings to meet your application.

Both parts can be purchased at Summit racing for under 60 bucks.

Ok here are the pics of the install on my spare head...

This is the 12x1.75 adapter fitting

This is the oil supply line and fittings

This port is on the right side of the head just under the fuel lines.

Install the 12x1.75 adapter and crush ring, Be sure to use teflon tape/paste on the threads. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN!!!

Using some teflon tape/paste cover the threads to this 1/8 AN fitting and thread it into the 12x1.75 adapter. I reccomend doing this step OFF the head to avoid over tightning the the 12x1.75 fitting into the head.

Now you can thread your oil line onto the AN fitting. DO NOT use teflon on the AN fitting as they do not require it.

I do not have it pictured but the other AN fitting will thread onto the oil pressure sender (pics soon)

there are 3 similar oil ports on the back of the block behind the coolant tube you can tap into. you will probably need the remote mount kit to hook it up there however since space is an issue.
