Stock bottom end limits..?
Stock bottom end limits..?
Hey guys,
I have read a lot of info on the lsj motor and have a little experience tuning my_bd's RL and another local guy's SS. I haven't had a chance to play with my new SS (sleepings in garage till cavy gets sold), but I've been seeing broken pistons litely.
Now, yes, i know, tunning plays a part (im using wideband and hpt) and on gms racing test list, stock internals lasted to 283hp (at crank). But I plan on hitting high 12s and curious if the guys on the 1/4mile list were able to do this with the stock bottom end or had to install forged piston/rods?
Thanks for the input/help!
Nate
btw..best time in cavy was 13.940@99.78mph

Pistons are good up to 300hp and i've heard rods up to 350hp. But if your looking to break into the 12's, i'd say some diamond forged pistons, and headgasket should be all you need. But while your into it, you might as well change rods and get some Golden Eagle Studs, just to be safe.
