Cobalt SS future....
Cobalt SS future....
New here, first post, lot's of nice cars!
Just curious as to what the future of the SS/SC is for the next year or two? With the Ion supposedly being discontinued, the MS3 being very limited to ~5k cars, and the new SRT-4 available next spring.
Is the SS/SC going to be produced for at least the next couple opf years?
I am awaiting a promotion at work early 2007, and am curious about the new SRT-4, but like the SS/SC very much and want to know how many will be around next year?

As far as i know the future looks bright for the Cobalt SS. Maybe different engines and such, but its going to be around. They have released an 07 and there are talks on this board about the 08 HAHA. hopefully it will be around cause when my lease is up, Im going SS/SC again, but the exact specs i originally wanted back in 05 but couldnt get.
how did you hear about the SRT-4? The SRT-4 was discontinued and they released the dodge calibur to take its place. There is a SRT model of the calibur though.
Im guessing they discontinued the Redline because of the Sky that is out.

Glad to hear, I'll have to keep an eye on this forum for any news about changes, and check one out when the promotion money arrives!
gm is going to be focusing on turbo engines for the solstice gxp and the sky redline. since gm has found a new catalytic convertor that can keep the emissions of turbo engines down, they may end up throwing a 2.0 turbo engine in the cobalts, hhr-ss's, and who knows what else. im sure pontiac will have something for the g5 gt soon besides just a 2.4 vvt. but the future of the cobalt's is very bright. they'll be around for a while
^ what he says. I personally wish they would keep the supercharge, cuz it sounds ssooo damn good!!
Anyways future looks good for the SS/SC. Can't wait for my lease to be over so I can get a new one again!! hahaha!
One word of advice, the new SRT-4 is nice, but the old neon is rumured to be just as fast cuz of weight issues with the calibur. And if U read a bit, a SS/SC with stage 2GMPP is as fast or faster than the neon SRT-4. I mean looks nicer in my opinion and faster.
The SRT-4 might have more potential, that i know, that what you have to decide. But I wouldn't myself go for the calibur, but if you do, its still a good buy!

ive already decided to trade mine as well. i really dont understand why they'd turbo an hhr but i've seen some pictures and as far as i can tell there will be some redesigning going on. what i really would like to see is a new turbo buick. 3800 series 3 turbo charged

Thanks for all the advice. I am a huge SRT-4 fan, but have really wanted a supercharged car for a long time, after owning turbo's. I like the look of the Cobalt SS?SC very much, have only seen a black one in person, never heard one accelerating in person yet. I love the sound of the SC.
I guess I'll have to wait and see what unfolds. I have to wait until early next year for a series of pay increases at work, anyway, so that gives me time to see. I hope that they keep the SC for awhile before changing to turbo!
