'06 Cobalt Gas Mileage
'06 Cobalt Gas Mileage
OK, so I haven't posted in awhile
Just dropped by my local dealer to check out the HHRs they had out front. Not bad, but I think it'd look much nicer with only two doors.
I also happened to notice they had an '06 SS (not supercharged). Looks about the same, 17" rims instead of 18s, smaller spoiler, nifty new GM badges (though they really screwed up the placement of those things, IMHO - and I think they'd look nicer in blue).
One thing I noticed on both the HHR and the SS was the fuel economy. 28 city, 40+ highway! Seems to be a huge improvement over the '05 ecotecs. Anyone know what GM tweaked to bring up the fuel economy like that?

Also, what's with Chevrolet.com not allowing you to look up info on 2006 models? I mean, some of them are on the lots already!

i'm sure its metric, or not, kinda weird (see link below)
yeah they introduced the new 2.4 ecotec engine for 2006. more hp with less emissions. gas milage stays the same from the 2.2 (24, 32 mpg from what i saw). the vvt helps with the consumption of the fuel and draws more hp and a bit more torq. i'm happy about the lower smog it emits b/c im a tree hugger. I drove the first 2.4 cobalt that came into stl. Wasnt impressed with the low end, doesnt even move till it reaches 2500 rmp, but damn once it gets going, it keeps wanting to go. BTW it was an auto.
heres what he is probably talking about
gas milage

I guess better early than late, the way the Cobalt was

One other thing I noticed - the SS badges on the '06 were lower on the door - similar to the preproduction models.

I don't pay attention to that L/100K crap that they put on there as well, but yeah the lower that figure the better. (I don't remember what it said on the sticker for that though).
