Which one should I get Sti vs evo x?

OK guys first off I'm sad to say that my car was involved in an accident and it was deemed total lose. So bye bye Cobalt. I loved my car. It made 316/340 on 93 pump gas. Now come the difficult part. I have to decide what I should get. Should I get a 10 Cobalt ss, and evo x, or get an sti. We all know the lnf is capable of good numbers. So what engine would be closed to the lnf? The evo x or the sti? Please chime in. Let me know what you guys think. Which car do I have to put more money into to get the 370-400whp range. Which engine can take more abuse. Which tranny is better? Pros and cons from both cars. Thanks guys.

Well the lnf will probably be the most problem wise with the tranny. But you can tune to accommodate this so you don't break your trans. Least that's what I gather from those who have gone big turbo

I'd also think the lnf is the cheapest route but all things considered.... I'd go evo...

Edit:Actually nvm I remember reading evo's had quite s bit of little problems with them.....

The biggest questions- how much do you want to spend, what do you want out of the car, how long do you want to keep it, what climate do you drive in?

That Rs is going to be a monster and there's already a bit of aftermarket for that engine. I'm wondering how that drivetrain will hold up

I don't want a brand new car. I want a used car. I'm a salesman at a dealership so I can get the cars well below nada book value. I basically buy it at wholesale price. So I'm looking about 22k below.

Okay don't laugh here but caddy ats awd with the 2.0 turbo. When you get bored you can slap a zfr turbo on it and they are really nice inside and ride well. Not near as sporty as evo or sti but they are awd and turbo.

2011-2012 Mustang 5.0 Brembo, unless you need a sedan. In the price range, makes that power stock and easily and reliably makes low-mid 400's with a few bolt ons and a tune. It will be slower than a Cobalt with the same power because of weight but an STI or EVO are within 100-200 lbs.

But the mustang will hook

Think that would be one of the better options unless you want to be different

Well considering that the Evo is about to join the Dodo I would go withe the Subaru since it has endless aftermarket support

Exactly.

Yea but the live axle issue is overrated. It has pros and cons. Its cons can outweigh the pros in a street car but its pros can outweigh the cons in a performance car (depending on goals and budget), for both strip and track.

Evo! That's just because I've always want one lol but subaru's are expensive to fix and to modify and idk how hard they are to work on. The evo I heard can hold up to 400 hp on the tranny but that's what I read so don't quote me on that. You can't go wrong with awd period. Or you could buy a 10k lnf with low miles and put out them numbers half the cost of the evo and sti. It's a tuff choice for sure

Evo... 2016 is that last year to snag one and look at the 06 EVO IX MR... People are selling them for 20k with 100k+ miles on them. No Cobalt is going to hold its value like and Evo or STi.

I own a 2012 STi

If you want to make a ton of power, go with the Evo. Simply put their motors are better for making power. However their transmissions are made of glass and break easy. Their diff's and transfer cases suck ass too

The Auto Tranny in the MR is garbage

If you want a car that has a bulletproof transmission...buy the STi. Guys have made well over 700 whp on the stock tranny no problem. The motor doesn't like big power so you will have to build it to make over 400 whp.

Also the gas mileage on both suck ass. and mods are a LOT more expensive compared to the cobalt.

Lnf. In an evo or sti its expected of you to be fast and beat v8s. No one thinks that about a cobalt so their jaws drop when they see just how quick this little 4cyl turbo is. And you can make it faster with less money.
