A couple of general cobalt questions

First things first i absolutely am infatuated with this car and Is the sole reason I work 35 hours a week so I can save money towards it. Ive basically love the model I love the aesthetics of the car, granted I havnt driven one yet. Leading to my first question, the only model I would consider getting is the SS or SS/SC. Now my question is for an "introductory" sports car is the SS' none S/C 170 HP and 160 Torque on a 4 cylinder pretty peppy? I would ideally like to get a SS S/C but I'm very apprehensive of how hard insurance is going to burn me, seeing how Im only 20 at the moment. Anyways I've got about 10,000 dollars in savings strictly for this car, I dont really want to finance it because I dont want to worry about monthly payments although I could probably work out a pretty good deal for the amount I have saved up. Also another thing I was going to point out is the SS non S/C can come in automatic and standard, which is horrible because 95% of the dealerships in my area ONLY carry SS non supercharged automatic trans which is depressing.

Anyways ill be reading around these forums alot thanks for your time

Before you make any purchase test drive both of them. If you do not want an automatic, don't settle for one...they can order whatever you like and have it there in a week. I scoped both models when I bought mine and the insurance diff was maybe 100/6mo, but I was still on my father's policy at the time even tho I paid for it, so on your own it may be more. With 10k down on a 5 year loan, even a loaded SS S/C on 60 months will only be just over 200/mo. If you want the SS S/C wait a month or two and the prices will go down. Sportscars just don't sell in the winter and they adjust prices accordingly. Best of luck and get what fits your needs the best, and welcome to the addiction!

Do they charge any additional fee's if they order one in for you like that, or do you already have some payment plan in effect by then? And as for test driving the models just about everything seems really fast to me after having to drive around my mom's old buick le sabre for the last few years. And im not sure when I want to go about financing the car or how to go about doing it, I might just wait until the new models come out and the prices really fall and I could pick one up used im not sure, becuase over the last few years I havnt exactly been building up my credit. Not to say that I have bad credit, just I havnt been building on it very much

Thanks for the help BTW =]

hiya! well like you i'm also 20 years old, i test drive the g5 gt (same as the ss na) and was NOT impressed at all..... (not trying to diss the na guys) it just felt slow, it couldnt even squak the tires, i hated it.... it was a auto though, so maybe that played some part. so i ordered a 07 ss/sc with every option cept onstar and chrome wheels, they didnt charge me any extra for ordering but told me they could (but the wouldnt cuz they were being nice lol) i managed to get 3 grand knocked off the price, and my car should be here within 90 days , i donno about insurance, since i'll be going under my dads policy, sorry i cant help there, but remember do not settel for what u dont want, get what u want and nothing less!!!! if ur planing on leacing your car dont put down anymore than u have to really, sorta like wasted money lol.

alright this happend with me when i bought my 07 ss/sc. they said if i was serious about buying it then they would order it for free. i just turned 21 and have my own insurance through progressive i found them out to be the cheapest. my payments are $216 a month which just dropped to $169 for the good driver discount (2 months of good driving) plus i currently live in CA. so just manage your money right and you should be good p.s. what part of TX you from?

Thanks for the info guys

And I live in Denton Texas. But as far as payments go, I just dont want to get screwed not being able to pay for insurance and my monthly payments thats why I want to put 15,000 down as my down payment to get the monthly payments really low. And if like the other person above me said the insurance difference between the ss and ss /sc is only a marginal difference, ill definitely go with the super charged SS. What do you guys advise I do as far as trying to finance it does my plan sound pretty good, after all I do have 10,000 right now just for this car.

Yah I dont have any bad credit at all, its all good its just that i havnt been building on it lately and im not sure what my credit score is at the moment. Regardless if I can get a good deal I might consider financing it, but im not sure if my parents are going to want me to pay in full for my car insurance or if they might consider helping me out with it every month. Im still under my dads plan and he pays for my car insurance as long as I do well in school which i have been but buying a SS or SS s/c im sure will jack my rates up considerably... but then at the same time I havnt really called the insurance company on that matter so im still in the dark about it. The insurance is what really scares me, which is why I just want to save up all the money pay the car off with like 85% cash and have little to worry about from month to month

Standards costs less than automatics, my friend is a auto technician and he tells me how much more time it takes him to fix an automatic transmission as opposed to a standard transmission
