GM warranty observations and input wanted
Hey guys ive been around these boards for awhile now , i lurked quite awhile before i joined and im wondering if there is a pattern to GM being douchbags on warranty claims .
Is it an age thing ? Do they see a younger guy and just think they can put the screws to em .
Is it because most of us here are car guys and take pride in our cars to make them alittle unique, and when they see anything different then when the car left the factory they go in auto warranty void mode ?
I myself havent had a bit of trouble with my car , heck my local dealer flashed my stage one for free , and let me use a bay to install it myself , but i see so many bad stories in here that if i was a younger guy (i'm 31) i would go buy something else.
Do you think it is GM as a whole , or just the dealerships that don't want to stand behind these cars ? Now dont get me wrong ,you have to pay to play , running a 2.8 pulley on a custom tune with meth isn't what i would call a "GM" issue , its the broken axels with stage 2 , fried clutches , broke trannys that i'm pissed about . We are seeing far too many IMHO.
Let me know what you think THX

It's the dealerships. But then you're going to get some ass clowns that say everyone who's ever had a problem did it to the car. It's the stealerships man, they're just looking to increase profit margins as much as possible. All the while they screw the mechanics and the customer.
mostly it is the dealerships and the techs who wont cover the claims. the age group probably has a lot to do with it.
also it can be attributed to the drivers, not only the user error but also the guys who magically make their car return to stock and try to get it covered.
i dunno, i havent had a problem with mine yet either, no heavy mods, but no problems regardless. I have never had a problem with my dealership either.

I definitely think that if a 18 year old or so takes his/her car in to a dealership that there gonna jump all over them for ever mod or alteration made. All stealer ship is after is to make money not spend it cause there product has defects

Just to play devils advocate a bit....I also think that of all the claims dealerships have for "excessive wear" type claims....more than not they are <21
not defending their actions, but i think we all know they see more young pups with shredded front tires and worn components than they will from older folks.
i know its a stereotype, and not everyone is this way, but more often than not its true.
I think its a little bit of both. Mostly its the dealerships themselves. I personally have never had any problems with a dealership, usually its the independent shops that rip you off. Im not saying dealerships dont do it too, cause i work at one, and there are techs there who are just ********. Usually, when a tech tries to screw someone, its not the customer, its the warranty company. dealerships get money based on warranty surveys, so we like to keep customers happy, and keep them coming back.
Also, age does have a lot to do with it. I mean, honestly, if you see a cobalt ss come in for a new clutch, and you start looking at it and see theres a ton of rubber on the fenders, and theres a bunch of mods done to it, well duh, you're gonna ask the customer what he did. Some dealerships will warranty it anyways but the ones that are dicks are gonna say "we cant warranty abusive wear"
the dealerships arent always out to screw all their customers and make as much money as possible. The one i work at takes care of the customers and the techs that work there. My advice is if you're experiencing a problem at a dealership, take it to a different one. And if they're dicks, move to another. Just keep jumping until you find a good one.

i think it has more to do with dealerships but a customer that is a mister know it all is no better. You can't just walk in and own the place but they shouldn't talk down to a customer and try and force money out of you thinking you will be a push over.
