Down Pipe leak??? WTF
Down Pipe leak??? WTF
My car has all the stock exhuast back to the cat back!
I replaced the cat back with corsa'a sport exhuast... I recently had a problem arise with a small leak in the resonator. I t took a week the locate the problem as I had to wait for it to get louder to locate it. Here the front of the resonator had cracked giving the tell tail sign of soot on the pipe so I call Corsa who offered to replace the part no problem. Week later the leak is getting alot worse and the resonator arrives so i install it thinking that finally my car will no longer sound like a Honda... Drop the car to the ground jump in and hit the key just to find the leak is still there... Now I'm pissed!!! Jacked it back up thinking i missed something but to no availe... Here the resonator flopping around caused the front flex tube to rock about and break!!! Now it continues to get loader and louder and wondering if Corsa will do anything about this or not becuase it was there parts failure that cuased GM's part failure I think I am going to get F*cked becuase Corsa will blaim GM's stock part and GM will blaim Corsa's Aftermarket part so I am going to have to replace this myself!! And I'm sure this will not be cheap! I love the car but it's about trade in time and sorry to say Chevy will not be on my shopping list!
Any thoughts or similar problems? I need some help here!!!

i dont know about trading it in for an exhaust leak...fixing a leak is cheap..
do you know exactly where it is leaking from? like is there a hole? did you put the gasket on in between the flange? how about having it welded together?

the flex tube just below the 3 bolt flange at the manifold is cracked and under small amounts of load it will seperate and spuw the fummes out, aftermarket flex tube are avalible that can be welded into place of the factory one but i need to know the pipe size to order the correct one!
button smasher, it's what happens when you have dial up and a slow computer!! I post a WTB ad int the apropriate section but what i would really like to know is the Inside Diameter of the stock downpipe as a friend has mentioned the possibility of replacing just the flex section

If your car is under warranty and your stock DP still has the cat attached , and you dont wanna go with a aftermarket DP .....the dealer should cover this no questions asked . A few of my friends are techs at chevy dealers . When my stock flex joint broke , they all said the GM flex joints were cheap and they will replace them under warranty on . They said it was problem early on , on more than just Cobalts .
Your Corsa exhaust didnt break the flex joint , it was likely starting to fracture before you put the Corsa on . As long as the stock converter hasnt been removed or altered you should have no probs at the dealer .
not sure how this would be Corsa's fault.. I have a Corsa Sport cat-back and no problems.. Did u tighten the Torca clamps properly after u installed the exhaust.. your suppose to tighten to 60ftlbs and then run it a bit to allow the exhaust to expand and contract and then crank that bad boy down.. thats what corsa told me over the summer
