I've been having the same problem for a few months now. So far they have replaced my steering column links cause they said they were loose. then a month after that i brought it in and they said I had a broken strut so they replaced that and did an allignment. Now 2 weeks after that i'm having the same problem and I think it's actually worse this time, please keep us updated

How loud is the clunk and when does it happen? I have a small clunk on the left front going over small bumps that should not cause a clunk. Almost sounds like a brake caliper is a tad loose. Please paste the link if there is one...I am @ work and do not have time to search.

The clunk seems to come from the RF. It is very noticeable and almost sounds like the strut mount nuts are loose, but they are not.

All suspension components are tight and my intermediate shaft has already been replaced once, yet the clunk continues.

I also have the clunk going over small bumps but I think more so on the right side, and I'm not sure if anyone else will agree but the feeling u kinda get through the steering column is sorta along the same lines of that lil pulsing sensation u get when the ABS kicks in???? but only going slow i'd say between 0-40km/h

does the noise/clunk happen when you drive around turns? especially in one direction or both? it might be loose sway bar end links. try looking at those and see. youd have to raise the car off the ground to see if they are loose. however if they are really loose they will have more and just a little movement when the wheels are on the ground. take a look.

I checked everything before I took it in to the dealer. All suspension is tight.

i have a similar noise also in the rf it makes a clunk sounds like a strut or something and also happens when you hit the gas for a millasec. it makes the noise when you hit it then makes the noise when i let off, the only problem is it goes away when the car gets warmed up, by the time i get to the dealer its gone, and doesnt come back the rest of the day until the morning.

i have the same problem on the front/right suspension...when i had my car on a lift i looked around and found out that my sway bar was grinding down my control arm. I have been in an accident before but it still made the same sound before the accident.

mine is just from hitting little bumps in the road and speed bumps. Still our cars should not make noises like this. I had GM fix it (or at least they said they fixed the clunking noise) but sure enough it was still there

Well I called my dealership and told them i'm having the same problem, 3rd time now, that there might be a TSB for it possibly and they very rudely said "if there was a TSB we'd know about it and out of every cobalt we've sold urs is the only one were having problems with". What a bunch of BS. So i'm taking my car in on the 27th and they are giving me a loaner so they can have a look over it, in the meantime i've got some calls in to a few contacts in GM to see if they know anything about it. Anybody else have any updates on their car, solutions?

I ALSO have a clunking noise! I can feel it in the steering wheel, like when going over small bumps or driving on a rough patch of road! I don't know what it is, but I'm scared the wheel is gonna fall off or something!!!

I just seem to be having alot of noise going over bumps. SO much for quiet ride steel or w/e bullshit the sales guy pitched at me. Anyways, I had my internal steering shaft replaced and ive been going to GM alot lately for fixes, im afraid the SM is gonna get sick of hearing me complain. Does anyone know if theres a TSB out yet for the suspension or something? I'm sick of this problem but I don't wanna bring it in and have them say theres no problem.

there is a TSB on the intermediate shaft of the steering column
i had mine replaced today, now im not hearing the clunk as much

alignment is now off tho
bastards didnt even set my toe, steering wheel is 3odegrees off , ill fix it this weekend at work when i do my CABs

the TSB and part # are on the service report, ill take a look at it tom.
PM me if i forget

They also drilled a hole in my firewall, cuz the stud that is spotwelded to the body that holds the shift cable broke off and was rattling on the exhaust, and causeing 4th to be real sloppy do to the play in it

so they put a bolt through, but i hear wicked exhaust noises through the hole
its loud, stereo overpowering noise cuz they cut the sound dampenening and the carpet to get to the hole

Is this part of the extended warrenty or just the basic warrenty for factroy defects? I'm wondering because I don't think I have an extended warrenty anymore, and don't want to pay $300,000 to have my car looked at.

So all I have to do is print off some TSB thing and the dealer will do it no questions asked? Even if I traded in my extended warrenty? Is there a link to the TSB so I can print it off?

i got it off a service guide at the shop im working at
see if one of the google searches show up TSBs and recalls(make sure it has all current TSBs b4 ya pay to access them)

the dealer will usually honor a warranty b4 the 30K mark without problems

also my case is different as they had my car for 95 days previously and now they have given me payments back and a new warranty im going to trade my other warranty in ASAP to have mod money(since i have dual policys)
