Just to let everyone know, we just finished the design and i have the first set of SSBC big brakes for the Cobalt SS

They will offer the Cobalt and Ion 4 bolt and 5 bolt patterns.

11.5'' rotors with 2 piston front and rear. they look very nice and you can get the calipers powdercoated to a select color.

I will have pics on my new website within the week.

The brakes should be available by Sept 2005

the vet has a different bolt paddern than the ss doesnt it?

because your not gonna fit the Corvette rotors and calipers on there 12 inch rotors with 4 and 6 pistons calipers just wouldnt fit

i would really do that more for the looks though. As for now i need some more performance then b4 i get any looks at al. Like carbon fiber hood, and possible future body kits. I would be getting that for sure. How much probably like 1800 to 2000 right

big brakes just means a bigger rotating mass, that in turn means you need just a little more power to turn that rotating mass, so it's realy not nessary to do this mod untill more power mods. come out. IMO!!!

Actually, you have to have at least 17" rims for 13" front 12" rearCorvette rotors to fit. Since we have 18" rims that wouldn't be a problem.

Just to let you know the front is actually a 12' rotor and the rear is still a single piston.....i only know this because i WORK at SSBC. The calipers are made out of lightweight aircraft aluminum, and he didn't design a damn thing. It was all in house, the guys who ACTUALLY did the design are Dan and Dennis. And as far as pricing goes front and rear will probably run about 2k i would imagine based on similar kits.

and as far as the calipers, i was told they were 2 piston front and rear.

the reason for the 11.5 rotor is that this needs to fit on stock 17'' ION rims.

If that info is wrong, then i was misinformed when i picked my car up from SSBS on tuesday

While this is true, the additional mass is neglagable compared to the overall mass of the vehicle. The added mass isn't even going to count for 1/10 of a % of time to speed tests. However, what it does, is add leverage on the brakes, giving a far better 60-0 distance, which is ultimately what matters.

To go fast is nice, but to be able to stop is key!

mark and paul are sales guys....i'd like to see them pick up a wrench lol. You should of talked to Dan or Dennis when you picked up the car. The front calipers are the 38MM sport twins and the rear are just a single piston caliper....lol be lucky they didn't decide to use the varga calipers on the rear, it's such a crappy caliper.O why did they use your car anyway......u give them free stuff or something? i was told you guys were from soundchoice audio in Grand Island so that's what i figured.

Front and rear rotors are 12.2" in diameter
Front caliper is our Force 10 SportTwin 2-piston aluminum caliper with 38mm stainless pistons
Rear caliper is our Force 10 Sport R1 single-piston aluminum caliper with a 54mm stainless piston and built in parking brake
(These calipers look the same from the outside but are different on the internal side.)

These kits will fit in the stock 18" wheels on the Cobalt SS and the stock 17" wheels on the ION Redline. I do not believe they will fit in the stock wheels on the 4-lug versions of these cars. Pricing is not ready yet. These kits were designed by SSBC; Keith loaned us his car for a week for our R&D department to use. It will still be a month or two before we have production pieces ready for sale.

The only part thats rotating is the disc. And I don't think I have ever heard anyone say bigger brakes was a bad idea. I am with Tiny on this one.
