07 LS w/ exhaust vs Tuned 179whp Focus SVT I/H/E

Here is my car with nothign but custom exhaust about a month after I bought it VS. a Tuned 179whp Focus SVT with Intake, Header, Borla Exhaust, TB Spacer...

When he starts braking I was 1 car length ahead of him and it was before the third light where we were supposed to race to. So I kept going all the way to the light btw. The guy on the camera didnt know that. This is a exact 1/4 mile race.

Also, that "179 whp" sounds like bs to me. If you run 15.1 and he has that much power, he'd be in the 14s...

That car was built by the owner of Speedtek performance in Fort Worth, Texas. He had it on the dyno like constantly trying to get the WHP to exactly what the factory spec was of 171whp.

There are a couple of differences in the cars though that effect a race of that sort. FOcus SVT has a maximum HP rating at 7200rpm, and THAT car weighs 200lb's more then mine. Tested at the local truck stop hahaha.

Did anyone else here the v8 in the back ground? That thing sounded turbo'd!

It was. It is a red Z28 with a TRT(Texas Rear-mount Turbo) setup. Kinda sucks off the line but its hella fast on the highway.

I had a feeling it was rear mount. They sound different that normal turbo'd cars.

that still is not right for an SVT Focus with that power to the wheels

thats putting down supposedly about 25whp more than a 2.4 and it takes more than exhaust for a 2.2 to beat a 2.4. I'd say hes talkin crank HP, definitely not whp

No disrespect or anything intended but I think I am gonna take the word of the owner of the largest and best DYNO shop in Dallas/Fort Worth over your expert opinion. And 2.4's arent all that much faster, stock vs stock I had one only beat me by a half a car. With a intake and exhaust I won by 1 car.

Whatever dude...but it doesn't take a genious to do the math regardless of a 200 lb difference, seriously...

Fact of the matter is that an intake and exhaust upgrade is a very small change in power. He "claims" 171 wheel horsepower...lets assume that he has a 15% drivetrain loss is about 190 HP at the Crank. So, math again, 190 HP Crank vs your car with, lets even assume 150 HP Crank. He should be competing more with RSX-Ss, not your car.

Either he's full of **** or he can not drive.

Not taking this race away from you but it just doesn't add up.

Thats a normal Zetec with intake and exhaust. No way a 130whp car is going to beat a 170whp car. I dont care who weights 200lbs more.

I used to own a SVT Focus, and those mods will not give it that much power to the wheels. The stock exhaust header is badass 4-2-1 race header, so i seriously doubt the guy put an aftermarket one on. he would be stupid to. that leaves just a catback and intake. You might get 10-12hp with those mods. They dyno about 135-140whp stock. Even if you did beat him, it's a nicer car than yours.

i dunno man i reced an svt focus a few weeks ago in my ss/sc and i literally killed the poor guy by at least 7-8 car lengts lol, that 2.2 can go pretty good (i used to have one and surprised many people in it) and i seriously believe him in this case. imo the svt focus is wayyyyyyyyy over rated.

I'm still wondering how the f*** you're running 15.1 with not much in the mods dept.

a 2.2 is not a bad car but that SVT Focus is putting down more at the wheels than a stock SVT Focus puts down at the crank.

something is just very wrong with that picture...

There is someone with a 15.6 stock.... intake, FULL exhaust would do a little, but the Ported and Polished head should beef it up quite a bit I would think.
