06 versus 07 cobalt ss sc.

I was wondering... are there any differences between the 06 ss and the 07? My friend claims that he saw an 07 SS with a supercharger that had white guage faces and the speedometer only went to 140 as opposed to the 160 mark. He also said something about the 07's coming with a smaller spoiler.

Any information would be great.

Thanks

He took pics with his phone and it had a supercharger on it. Could it be a screw up with the manufacturer?

yeah the SS/NA is 140 mph... the gauges from the 05-06-07 SS/SC's are the same... the only difference is the ability for a "smaller spoiler" option, and the 3 spoke steering wheel, oh yeah and the MP3 aux. port!

Don't forget the awesome "lipped" rims with Painted Aluminum! Also the High Polished Aluminum option.

Ditto on what everyone has said. All cosmetic changes. However, this might not be what you were asking, but I think the 07's drive a little different. I test drove an '06 before ordering my '07, and the '07 actually felt a little faster. I'm sure it was mostly because the '06 I test drove had been on the lot for a long time, and had been beaten around. I just thought my car pulled harder than the one I test drove. I wonder if anyone has stock '07 dyno numbers or track times. I haven't seen any yet, but I'd be curious to see if it was just a fluke.

My neighbor owns an 06 w/ G85, and I have an 07 w/ G85 (minus recaros). Aside from the cosmetic changes, the cars drive pretty much the same. No noticable differences in that aspect.

Not all cosmetic . 1 cool(beneficial) mechanical change is the crank sensor being changed to the newer faster 58x crank sensor . This is why the 07's are waiting for updated calibrations for the stage 1 and 2 kits . The idle in the 2007's should idle smoother and the PCM is much faster reacting due to the new sensor. Win win

SS/SC's now have standard heated seats with the auto sensing passenger air bag that turned off when no ones in the seat .

Im with The Captain , the new Gunmetal painted 07 Malibu SS wheels look WAAAY better .

i have an 07'.. i had no choice really with the rims cause' it was the only car available with the options i wanted at the time and wanted it quick cause' my re-sale value on my old Protege5 was going to plumit fast..

i have the polished rims, but they aren't "lipped".. being lipped, meaning the curve in the middle of the spokes? they look not bad..

but why the change; the manager at the dealer told me the original company that was making the rims went out of business.. so they had to get a new company to start making the rims.. some of the cars went through a transition period in order to compensate.. the new company made them as quick and close as possible, but some flukes weren't worked out.. the "lipped" rims i don't believe are an option though.. i've only seen a couple on the dealer lots here in Windsor with them.. all the other ones are the normal flat spoke..

GM's wheel supplier DID file bankruptcy . 2008 has a brand new style wheel for the SS , so thats why the plentiful and very similar Malibu SS wheels were subsituted to take up the slack in 2007 . It was only a matter of painting them Gunmetal . If GM runs out of stock on the flat style polished wheels , dont be surprised if some of the last 2007's have the Malibu SS polished wheel as well .

So there were no "flukes" . The use of Malibu SS wheels was intentional

There's no big difference in the 07. I just bought mine 3 months ago. The only differences are the steering wheels and buttons on the steering wheel are different and the radio option 07's now have 6 disc changers in the dash. Also, the 18 in wheels are high polish silver and not flat silver(gunmetal). Everything else (i.e. guages, speedometer, engine, interior, is all the same)

P.S. The racaro seats are no longer an option with the vehicle already. But, you can order them from any chevy dealer.

my 07 SS/SC has the smaller spoiler and polished wheels. Speedo goes to 160 still, but it does have the big center button radio... other than that, same as 06.
also, i don't have heated seats. either.

A lot, if not all of the canadian Cobalts are unable to come with Recaros, the LSD, or heated seats (and we're the ones in real winter ). All have the option of High Polish Aluminum or Gunmetal, and the low-pro tail is a dealer option, not a factory option.

I still have to say I like the Gunmetal wheels better myself! Chrome is great and looks fantastic... but I hate polishing chrome!
