clutch gone at 3900 miles
clutch gone at 3900 miles
I've been looking at this forum and seeing a lot of people saying there clutches are going out. Sounds like a manufacturer flaw to me, since mine just went out and I only have 3900 on my odometer. But, GM told me they would cover it this time even though it is not under warranty. They also offered me another option, in which GM would put up the cost of the parts towards an aftermarket clutch to be installed into the car. So what should I go with, the SPEC Stage 2+ or the SPEC Stage 3?

While I DONT agree that its a manufacture problem with the clutch, it is cool that GM is goin to pay for an aftermkt clutch. And on whethere you should go with stg 2 of 3 it depends on your future plans for the car. How much more HP do you plan on? Answer that, and you'll know which clutch to get.
A clutch goes out and people automatically jump that driver issue wagon. When the dealership pulled it apart and showed me that it didn't have the hotspots proving driver abuse or riding of the clutch. The problem most likely lies in when you add more torque, even with the mods from GM, the stock clutch probably can't handle it. So the manufacturer should either warn you or offer an aftermarket clutch that can handle the added torque stress. 5 years and I have never burned out a clutch till now.

I agree the manufacture "clutch problem" I think is user error. Especially after seeing that noob post earlier about not having to hit the cluth to get the car in gear..but we wont get into that. There is alot of young people here, and alot of people learning stick shift on this car for the first time....grind grind grind.....droppin from 75mph into 2nd gear...(dear god) Although I do admit shifting at 3g rpm dos help with the slip
