Exclamation GM Recalling 98,000 Cobalt Coupes

98,000 Chevrolet Cobalt coupes recalled
Automaker says improvements needed to head impact protection
The Associated Press
Updated: 4:54 p.m. ET Jan 24, 2007
WASHINGTON - General Motors Corp. said Wednesday it was recalling more than 98,000 Chevrolet Cobalt small coupes to upgrade head impact protection.

GM said the recall affects 98,707 vehicles from the 2005-2006 model years that are not equipped with optional roof-mounted side impact air bags. The issue was discovered during compliance testing.

There have been no injuries related to the recall. GM spokesman Alan Adler said the head impact protection would only be an issue for motorists not wearing a seat belt. Belted motorists would not be affected, he said.

Dealers will install energy absorbing plastic to the area, the company said. Owners can contact Chevrolet at (800) 630-2438.

I have the side impact airbags......

They say it won't affect belted passengers. Every person wears a seat belt in my car, period. I don't think i need it.

A recall is "warranty work" no matter what, the Dealer is required by law to do the work for free.

As far as "recalling the cobalt so much" its all part of having a new model car. They're just working out the kinks.

The fuel injector recall looks like when they produced the engine they were supplied with a bad batch of injectors...that'll happen from time to time
