"New" Leftover 2006 Silver Cobalt SS/SC probably still the best price deal

Ok, if anyone is still shopping for a car, incredibly there is still a silver 2006 SS/SC w/Performance package (and Recaros), extra airbags, sunroof, and XM Radio at a Chevy dealer here near the Atlanta airport. (usually one way air tix to Atlanta are cheap, and then you have a nice roadtrip home...)

Link to GMbuypower sticker. Since its a super long URL, I used tinyurl
http://tinyurl.com/2wzyz9

I'll start by saying I don't work for this dealer. In fact, when I bought my black SS/SC from them, it was the worst buying experience I ever had at a dealership. So I'm warning you now...not an easy buying experience. There is a story there....However, I got my car for only $17000 for a SS/SC w/G85, sunroof, extra airbags, XM....

So, this would be a price deal.

Positives...this silver 2006 is considered a new car, not used...however....

The negatives...when I saw the car, it had about 1800 miles on it. Was missing floormats (they have to order new ones for you). And that sunroof switch bezel had fallen off. (they have to get that for you too, or you can get it fixed under warranty at a different dealership).

With the 36/36 new car warranty, you still are better off than with a used car, in my opinion.

This car arrived on their lot in Nov of 2005!

They *really* want to sell it. Like I said, with difficulty, I got mine for $17000, plus $650 for fees, plus tax. No reason someone else can't get that, or better. You could reference my deal to try to get them to do the same.

If you do it...I would recommend its a no trade in deal. If you have another car you need to dump, do a private sale. And arrange financing with some other, non-dealer source....bank, credit union, something. NOT this dealer.

My incentive here....I *think* I can get $100 as a referral fee. Maybe. They are taking a big loss on this car. Assuming you PM me, and I tell them you are coming, maybe I get $100. More than likely, the dealer would screw me out of that too...

If you think you are interested, PM me, and I can give you the pointers, which manager I would suggest, and some other info you will probably need. Doubt if you can find a "new" SS/SC at a price better than I got mine, nor a dealer with this kind of situation...

I look at one of the purposes of this forum is to help new and potential owners of the Cobalt. I thought the price on this SS/SC is exceptional. When I was in the market for one, the price was so good, I could not pass it up.

There is no reason someone else in the market should not benefit from that price, and my very tough buying experience. If I was in the market for one, I would want all the details to get the most aggressive price possible...not just "hey, they still have one..."...which is one of the benefits of the internet, and this forum.

What did you pay for your car....? I would consider a $17000 +$650 +tax price for an SS/SC w/G85 to be one of the best...ever...for a new Cobalt with the options I listed...

If I would have known this I would have rented a car and driven there to buy it....I paid about $5k more for mine, so I think that would have been well worth the trip.

I'm afraid to fly.

I'd rather walk my happy ass across the country than fly, lol.

No way...afraid to fly? You're in a plane...lots of careful, tested engineering, regulated, schedule/maintainted, piloted by experienced pros, guided by controllers....

But the roads...litterally you can "run into" anybody out there....in any sort of maintenance state, and any level of experience (or lack thereof...)

Flying is MUCH safer than driving on commercial airlines.

I think 17,000 is still a little steap. That is likely a dealer car with all those miles on it. They most likely beat the crap out of it driving it around. I got mine with 6 miles on it, same features, in black, and it was only $18,500 a year ago. That was a good deal. Plus, I got a lot of free stuff with it. They had them overstocked. a year ago 18,500 was the minimum sell price. I would bet for that kind of wear and 1,800 miles, it is 15,500 and the rest is all seller profit not including the dealer profit.

Remember now...it has the LSD and the Recaros you can't get on the 07. I'd take those over heated seats. And it has the extra airbags for safety.

Heck, by now, with 1800 miles on it, perhaps you can do better than my deal. I'll ask....

Id rather have the ipod input, better steerin wheel, and better rims. The recaros were limited in 07 but they were available, so il take heated seats instead. I don know if i want a car thats been beatin on but 15k and i would buy it for sure.
