4 Wheel Disk Brakes Only on Supercharged SS

From Chevy:
The antilock braking system (ABS) on Cobalt is designed to help you maintain steering control by reducing wheel lockup during hard braking on most slippery surfaces.
SS Supercharged Coupe is equipped with standard four-wheel antilock disc brakes, while four-wheel antilock front disc/rear drum brakes are standard on LS and LT models and available on Cobalt Coupe and Sedan Models.

SS Supercharged-Specific Five-Speed Manual Transmission
Fully synchronized, including reverse, the FGP manual transmission provides smooth, quick shifting. Gear rings are made from sintered bronze and carbon fiber to resist heat buildup and enhance durability.
The transmission also features a hydraulic clutch system, delivering efficiency and durability. The clutch design also contributes to the virtual elimination of engine vibration transmitted to the clutch pedal.
Bottom line: This is a manual transmission that's precisely tuned to help deliver the ultimate driving experience for the Cobalt SS Supercharged Coupe.

The other models get a regular 5 speed option. (excluding LT Sedan)

Performance Handling Suspension
Developed from testing on numerous racetracks throughout North America and Europe, this suspension — exclusive to SS Supercharged Coupe — is designed to perform.
It is a race-tuned, high-performance suspension that features independent front and twist axle rear suspensions — along with front and rear stabilizer bars. There's also hydraulic rear ride bushings for improved ride quality and coarse-road noise suppression.
In addition, monotube rear shocks are tuned for the ride and handling characteristics of the SS Supercharged Coupe and add to vehicle ride and handling with improved damping response during extreme handling events.

Another reason to get the SC SS

Car and Driver was really impressed with the suspension set-up and brakes of the Redline. They said the suspension was much better then the SRT-4's independant setup, both in ride and in handling. For those people who though that going with the rear twist-beam was a bad idea, it's both cheaper and better performing then the IRS of most of it's compact car competitors.

Yeah even SCC, the import-loving mag that it is, commented that the brakes in the Redline were awesome.

That's always a good sign...when magazines give praise to things like that. Of course, it's based upon their opinion..but positive feedback is comforting. It's nice to know you can build the performance up a bit without having to worry about the suspension of the car first.
