Is my strut bad?

I've been experiencing this sound from my front passenger wheel well. It sounds like something is loose sort of. Well, brought it into the dealer about 2 months ago and they said they couldn't reproduce it. Well, I just left it at that. Meanwhile the noise gets worse and it happens everytime I hit something on the road.

I noticed tonight while painting my cailpers, that my strut is all oily and the bottom of it is drenched in an oil like material. Has my strut gone bad? The driver's side doesn't look anything like that. I don't know much about them. I would appreciate any help.

That's what I believe the problem to be with mine as well, I think the passenger side strut is toast. MAKE them fix it. I had mine in 4 times with the same thing and they kept saying they can't reproduce the problem. Bullshit.

Don't make the same mistake I did, refuse to let them blow you off on it, make em fix it and fix it right........oh yeah, and let me know what you find out, before I rip apart my suspension. Jerks put it off so long I'm now out of warranty.

Oh, you can believe that I will make them fix it...esp now I have an idea as to what the problem might be. The car is already going to them on Monday for anew headlight assembly that they broke while trying to align my front bumper. I've been waiting for that **** for quite some time now so I can paint the inside of the headlights. They also have to do some touch up work where the headlight was rubbing from the bumper adjustment too. They are going to love when I tell them to replace the strut! I just don't understand how they couldn't reproduce the problem...the slightest bump makes the noise.

If it's leaking oil, it's toast. Warranty will not be a problem now, rattle or not! Was it leaking when you took it in the first time?

I have no idea if it was leaking or not. I doubt they really put any effort into looking for a problem. I'm just relieved I found what the problem is now!

Happy I searched the forum and found this thread. I'm at the dealership right now - the car is in for it's 1st oil change and the "brake issue". I'm hearing a creak from the right rear, and at first I wanted to say it was body creak. I'ma have them check the rear struts.
