Clutch pedal travel.

Well I have been driving a lot recently and have started to notice the length of travel for my clutch to disengage. On my car, it is about 1/2 to 1" of travel. This seems like very little to me. I have just over 20,000 on my car and have not had any clutch related issues to date. I was wondering how this amount of travel compared to anyone elses ss/sc. Any feedback would be great. Thanks

Mine engages pretty far out. Not sure if it is because the car only has 800 miles on it and hasn't been broken in yet. But it definitely is a lot different from most manual cars I've driven where it catches a lot sooner.

so your saying there is a change in the amount of travel required? that might be a problem.

or has it always been like this and you just noticed it?

i know that is one of the big differences between jap cars and american; american the clutch travel is all towards you and jap cars is to the floor (i.e. you have to push the clutch all the way in to disenguage it)

The engagement point on these cars are very near the top.

i had the same concern about a month ago, and i know several other members were questioning it...all the balts whether new or not have a lot of travel...engagement is very high, seemed odd to me as well

if the engagement is to far up, your release bearing could be engaging the pressure plate a litle bit which in turn could be causing some clutch slippage, im going to investigate this on my balt this week i think.. i cant drive it cause its being stored, but on some cars there is a nut and bolt on the clutch pedal to adjust engagement height.
