Stock SS pushing 13psi??
Stock SS pushing 13psi??
I was peaking my cobalt in 4th gear (5600rpm) and i noticed that the boost gauge was sitting at 90kpa (which converts to 13.05 psi).. I was just wondering if that is normal?? I thought that stock SS's maxed out at 12psi?
Stock boost on a SS/SC is about 12.5 PSI... throw a little rough conversion factor in there and you'll probably end up close to 13. So that seems about right.
Remember... cold air is denser and compresses more easily than hot air. I wouldn't worry about anything unless you start seeing like 15+ PSI on a regular basis... then it's your catalytic converter.
But from the sound of it you're running fine.

something like that... I think it's 2.2km per mile... just be patient... once you're over the mark... it'll open on up. But you need to be WOT at the top of 2nd or 3rd for it to even boost that high. The stock ones take a moment to squeeze that last little bit of boost out.
1118.47 miles exactly. You can either multiply the km by .62 (a kilometer is .62 miles rounded down from a very small fraction) or divide it by 1.6 (the number of kilometers in a mile rounded down from a very small fraction). The rough numbers you'd get from this are 1116 or 1125. If you want exact numbers to use, which are somewhat longish, you can divide 1118.47 by 1800 or vice versa.

In the cold with my injen cai, just before the rev limiter in 3rd gear Im seeing around 98kpa which is 14.21 is this normal, im guessing that it is because the cai adds about 1 psi
My bad uit was a typo, i meant 95kpa
Sorry

Hmm... 14+ PSI sounds a bit odd. The only way to "add" boost is to swap to a smaller pulley... or go to a smaller exhaust. I've never heard of an intake increasing your cars ability to build boost.
Then again... how cold is it there in Canadialand? I've never really gotten on the car when it's been near freezing out... dunno what the boost would do.
