View Full Version : Intake manifold removal - Help

Ok, so I have managed to get everything off the car; except the damn intake manifold. I took all the bolts out, and the studs but there must be something on the botton of the manifold holding it on. Where are the bolts that are holding the manifold on? I have hunted and hunted and remember a post about removing the IC pump to remove the intake manifold, but the GM instructions for the stupid dual-pass don't mention anything about any other bolts beside the ones on the head.

I did notice there are 2 bolts directly above the IC pump, are these the bolts I need to remove to get the intake out?

I appreciate everyone who helps me out on this! (BTW - getting the IC coolant hoses off is a BITCH! What the hell do they do, glue the motherf**kers onto the tubes?!)

There are 2 on the bottom above the pump.

i ran on to the same problem. dont go the harder route. unbolt the alternator and behind the intake manifold is a 15mm bolt. if you dont drop the alternator you cant reach for that 15mm bolt.

you can do it either way but it is easier to unbolt the alternator and take the bolt out with the 15mm head out. It goes into the intake lower bracket from the front side of of the engine just behind the alt.

There are 2 bolts that hold on the IC pump, then there are 2 more above those 2 that hold on the intake manifold. You can either remove the IC pump & bracke and remove those 2 bolts, or you can remove the alternator and remove the single bolt from the side. I have always done it by removing the IC pump.

And yes the hose clamps are glued to the hoses. It really makes it a PITA.
