is there a supercharger for the 2.2??

im thinking about purchasing a Cobalt SS Supercharged but i can get a LS 2.2liter model with only 19k miles for $9000. And throw a turbo or super for only $3k more. But my question is, is there a supercharger or turbo for the 2.2 cars???

dont forget about the handling difference between the 2 models shocks, springs, control arms, ect are all different on the SS for greatly improved handling, if that doesnt matter to you then maybe the 2.2 equipped model is best for you and then you can swoop up a turbo kit and wait for tuning.

Not true. The Alpine kit uses a piggy-back computer that's custom tuned for the 2.2.

Ditto. I also spoke to another company, and was informed that the Garret Kit will have a tune shortly, and UP to a Stage 5 upgrade, will estimated number between 500-600 hp!

At the Van Chevrolet Pro Shop in Carrollton, Texas (sub city of Dallas) where i bought my car they said they can install an ss supercharger on the 2.2. The manager said he did it to one the other day.

First, there are several threads on this topic. Please try a search.

Second, there is one retail kit from Alpine right now. There will be a kit from Garrett in the near future. If you are saving money, buy your $9000 car and wait for the Garrett.

Actually, from what my dad has been telling me, the GMPP 2.2L supercharger kit will fit 100%, no problems, and GM supposedly can reflash the cobalts to work with them.

I'll know for sure in about 2-3 months when I have the funds and start talking more with the dealership.

By the way my dad works for the dealer, so I can get the whole kit installed for $2500. Whooooohoooooo

I'm afraid your information is not correct. The j-body ecotec supercharger will not work on the Delta cars. Deltas use an electronic throttle systems, no throttle cable. The kit uses a cable design. There is no GM tune for it either.

Does the J-body also use speed density instead of mass air?

HPT has not yet listed the car on their site. We expect they will with the next version release.
