hp tuning not reading vcm
hp tuning not reading vcm
I keep getting an unable to read VCM check to make sure it's in the run position everytime I try to connect. I have tried numerous things... any suggestions to get it to work?
Give me two minutes, ill find you the solution.
Move (not copy) all your .cfg files in your "C:\Program Files\HP Tuners\VCMSuite" directory to a new subdirectory location (save for later) and fire up the editor. You will probably have to reinstall your application key (available at your HPT login on the main HPT website) and re-ping your hardware. Then use the standard write and all should be good.
You can also just rename the vcm suite.cfg file and try again.and then put ur application key once you open the program again.

BINGO! This is more than likely your problem. I had the same issue. It's the 15amp fuze about half way down on the passenger side of the black fuse box under the hood.

Definitely the solution...thanx
has anyone had the issue were your plug in a adapter into the cig lighter and it blows your fuse? reason i ask is because apperently i keep blowing a fuse when i do that....Its going back to the dealer and im going to see if i can lemon law this thing.
lol adapters sometimes do that...its your adapter not your car...find a new adapter. I've used my old 150w $19.95 inverter for about 10 years through about 50 different vehicles without a hitch
I've heard some of the "better" ones having more problems then the cheapies.

not just the power inverter when i stick in any adapter IE phone, GPS, etc it blows the 20 amp fuse it does it in both cig plugs.....Like i said i got to take it into the dealer for a recall might aswell take it in for this also.
There is an easier fix. You delete the config file and then when you open it again you'll have to input your application key again.
If its blowing fuses it is probally grounding out somewhere.
Hi guys,
Here's the workaround i have emailed to those who have emailed us at support:
There is a bug in the current release that if the last vehicle tuned was a CAN vehicle the Cobalt will not be recognized. This is due to the fact that the Cobalt responds on both the CAN and VPW buses but only the VPW is used for programming and scanning (our software gets confused becuase it remembers the last vehicle comms for faster connection times).
The workaround is to delete your "VCM Suite.cfg" file in the the C:\Program Files\HP Tuners\VCM Suite 2 directory or change the line:
< add key="VehicleBus" value="2" / >
To
< add key="VehicleBus" value="1" / >
We hope to have a permanent fix available soon.
