I wanna paint my interior around the stereo and what not, but I don't like how the silver looks with the blue (based on pictures I've seen). Will the black hvac controls on an LS or whatever fit in an SS slot and if so then where can i get one? Any help would be great. Thanks.

 

As far as i've been able to find out, they should be a direct swap. But, someone who has tried this may be able to deny it.

As for where to get them.. try one of the online stores that sell GM replacement parts (can't think of any of the top of my head.. it's late). Or perhaps a local wrecker or ebay.

 

There has to be some wrecked base cobalts out there. Or rent a cobalt for a day, and "borrow" what you need, then put your old ones back.

 

I plan on doing the same thing. I know of at least 4 wrecked base models in my area just in one junk yard, so I'll be getting one of those, as long as the price is reasonable. I don't wanna be shelling out very much for something that comes stock on a base model just for the black color haha.

I'm telling you, just go rent a car from enterprise or something, they have lots of LS cobalts. They will never realize the difference. Or just tell them it came that way. They really don't pay attention to the cars. As long as you put your old one back that is.
