Does anyone know how much does the Eibach Sportline springs shorten the life of the stock struts on a ss/sc?

In theroy since you are lowering the car by 1 and 1.3" you are puuting more pressure on the struts causing them to ware prematurely.

Your thoughts??

 

Not sure but get the koni's they are worth every penny and will last you a lifetime.

 

I'd like to know the answer to this also.

 

if you are upgrading your suspension... getting better struts should be on the list as well

if you are just throwing in the sporty's to lower the car and having nothing else done... then i might worry about that

 

I'd say just go with coilovers. But I would like to know the answer as well.

 

well i know people with sportlines on 2.2's for 1+ years so i believe the ss/sc will last much longer. really all depends on how you drive/where you drive.

in theory, people who live in the desert will have there struts last longer compared to people like me living in new england where plows make holes bigger then your car in the road

I jsut bought koni's with my SSC springs, will be installing them in the near future

I think Koni is the only Co. making struts for us. They are not direct replacements though.
You have to take apart your stock struts and use parts. The Konis are like an insert.

Besides that we have no other options.

I have been running Sportlines for over a year and i'm good to go.
Eventually I will need struts though. Just waiting for direct replacements.

Come on KYB do us a favor.

Either way I would say the stock struts would be good for 2-3 years or so after springs. Just my opinion.

 

yea come one KYB i want them....but my stock struts should hold on my 2.4L

 

Yeah, I know some people on myspace that have had their springs for like 48K and they STILL have no complaints...I am not sure if that is a circumstantial situation though....if that helps any sir.

 

They may not have any complaints because they've gotten used to the ride. The SS's struts are gas pressurized which will help last a bit longer. And so far koni's are the only struts available. The front inserts aren't has hard as it would seem. Hell koni's has been making inserts like that for years and years.

 

For long term use I would ONLY do 1 of the following:

Koni and Eibach Sportlines

KW Suspension coil over kit.
