I never liked my mount everest tall B&M shifter . I was bored at work and screwed around with it today and this is the result . The reverse lockout is GONE ....if you somehow accidently put your car in reverse while your driving , its time to get a automatic Theres NO cool shift knobs I can buy in town , so I modded the B&M one as a temporary thing . 1st off , I drilled out some of the threads , so it would bottom out on the stick further down , so I could screw it on more . Then with the extra portion of the stick coming out the top of the shifter I had to machine the bottom of the aluminum cap in order to get it back on . Then I machined a grove around the bottom of the shift knob to attach the boot with a zip tie like its supposed to . And thats about it .

Overall I lost about 1/4 inch . Cost $0 . Plus it looks much better . When I get my new knob Im gonna make it shorter yet by cutting a bit of the top and rethreading the stick . I LOVE the stock hurst leather shift knob Ive had in past F-bodies , so Im gonna adapt that knob . Its just perfect . I didnt get any pics of when I did it , I didnt have my camera work , so all I have is the final results .
