has anyone done tuning on their 2.4?? i hear its extremely hard to do correctly due to the vvt components within the pcm (or something like that)

im sure i think its hard only because im greener than a sic baby's #2 when it comes to tuning.

anywho... with the mods that i have listed and getting some stock ss/sc injectors within the next few weeks, i know i'm going to need a tune.

couple of questions... which company should i go with?? hp tuners seems to be the #1 with everyone on the site, but are there any others?? also, what would i need to concentrate on when tuning??

like i said, i know nothing when it comes to tuning. is there a tuning 101 listing somewhere on the site??

i appreciate the feedback guys, thanks in advance :twothumbs

HPtuners all the way. That is what I am using right now. If you want to tune it you are going to want to put the 2.0 injectors in the car. you will also need a harness off a 01-04 sunfire/cavi with the 2.2 engine in it to be plug and play. when I went for a run the stock injector duty was maxed out at 98% at 6500rpm. I really dont have a big tune on it due to that. We upped the timing, lowered line pressure for firmer shifts, change limiters, and WOT shifting. This tune is more for WOT. Daily driving is alot smoother. I'm auto by the way. I ran yesteday at Englishtown Race way and ran 15.8 constant with only a slight tune and Injen CAI. the track was ok..but HPtuners is easy...but if u havent tuned a car i would recommend not to do it. It does get hard. im slowly learning but my buddy is tuning my car. If you have any questions feel free.

No no not the right years iLLmaTic3s! It HAS to, HAS to, HAS TO BE the harness from a 2003 to 2005 Chevy Cavalier OR pontiac Sunflower!! Anything older then 2003 even if it has an ECOTEC in it it used a different harness.

As for tuning tho your right 100%! My tune by Steve is still needing a little tweeking but since my CEL has actualy gone out 3 seperat times for a max of 60 miles then I know its only off a liiiiiiittle bit! I may have found a shop that will go in and fix it and not rape me but I'll keep you posted.

If maybe you want to go the route of getting a base tune that is set up for 2.0 injectors already and tweek it from there contact Psykostevo. He is are tuner for arizona and could email you a file for hp tuners for a small fee im sure. You would have to work that out with him, but we have a guy he tuned down here with an auto that ran a low 15 and with stickier tires could probably be in the high 14's. Here is a link to someone who has already got his tune and like's it.

i think they ran a 15.3 or something like that with bigger injectors, exhaust, intake, and tune...i think it was something like that

last nite i ran a 15.8 in my 2.4 with a injen cai, and slight tune. once i get my injectors and tune more indepth with a wideband. ill prolly see low 15. then ill do more bolt ons. if i can get it in the 14's which hopefully i should..ill be happy.

the 2.4 is pretty hard to tune, im still having tuning issues with my turbo kit cuz the professional tuner is having trouble figuring it all out, im using LS2 edit by the way for tuning, hp tuners is similar.

from what i understand on the 2.4L ion... hptuners is the way to go and can tweak just about everything, I"ll be doing the 2.0 injector swap once i can find the harness adapter for it.

You're the pioneer on an intercooled turbo 2.4 auto using tuning with the stock computer, so I'm sure you will have some issues. I'll let you know how the Alpine SMT-6 system works out in a day or 2.

That other guy would be me. Also, I just did a full read on a 2.4 yesterday and I must say, although it doesn't look any different then my 2.0 I'm sure I will run into some minor issues.

He was running an extremely consistent 15.8 1/4 mile with a cai and Paul's tune at the track last Friday. BCP FTW.

sorry i haven't been around to post... busy w/ jobs...

you guys are awesome!

yeah, the next item on the list is the 2.0 injector swap. we just don't have a resident tuner amongst our group up here in MN so i figured that i would fill the gap, especially when i'm going to be the first one that needs it.

HPtuners seems like everyon's #1, thanks for the info

i'll be getting in touch with some of you over PM im sure within the next month or two bout this. gotta move closer to my main job first so i can save money on gas

again... thanks!

yeah i was running 15.8 constantly. this was with a injen CAI and a slight tune consisting lowering line pressure for firmer shifts, raise shifting at WOT, increase all limiters. and up timing 2degrees. this is a slight tune due to the maxing out of the injectors. i should be getting the old ecotec harness soon from jackalope for the injector swap. im sure me and BCP Performance will write a good tune, plus also i will be adding a wideband to change a:f. my 60' was 2.3, very similar to some ss/sc's.hopefully after the wideband ill dyno the car to see where i am at.
