Well im making my own thread... my dipstick popped out while driving so I took it into the shop... then they replaced the intake manifold gasket, supercharger gasket and throttle body gasket. Thought i was home free, then the dipstick popped up again on the way home from the dealership (at some point). So i was pulling the ECU out to clean it since it was COVERED in oil, and here is what i saw when i took off the intake tube...

it appeared that it may have been coming from the tube that connects to the intake from the valve cover.....

when the dipstick first popped i checked the intake tube and it was clear of anything like this... now that i get it back "fixed" this is what it looks like. Maybe its just foamy oil from driving with the dipstick popped?

btw you cant tell when it happens.... no cel or message or running issues.

yeah, cant be good. check your oil on the dip stick. you might have a blown head gasket

 

WOW!!! Did somewone blow a headgasket and get blowby, which consisted of coolant and oil, in their intake? THAT SUKS DUDE!!

 

yea the oil is a quart low (its on the last line of the dipstick) but the car was running great! and still is lol, i was like hmm let me pop the hood and see if they cleaned the oil up when they had it in the shop and bam i saw it...

and they say they ran a compression check and everything was great....

 

That definately looks like coolant mixed with oil. Not a good sign, time to get that head checked.

 

ok. you might not have a blown head gasket then but you definatly have some oil and coolant mixing somewhere. i would take it back up there and show them what happened and see what they say

 

Same frothy oil was in the intake of a local car that popped the ring land on piston 4. We thought it was oil/coolant mix, but there were no coolant leaks. Remember, we also have red dexcool as well.

 

yea im planning on going back monday... does a compression check, include a head gasket, and ring lands?

 

No way they did a compression test then. Or they are just dumb. Get a kit for 15 dollars and do it yourself. You probably have a blown ring land or something if the car is still driving kinda ok. If you keep driving it, it will get worse. Happened to me. You don't want to damage the sleeves and make the repair harder and more expensive.

 

yes. a compression check will check and make sure each cylinder builds compression, and that it doesnt escape through piston rings, valves, head gasket, the head itself, the block, and the piston.

Yes, then a leakdown test will pinpoint the leak. If air blows out of the intake, its usually a bad intake valve, exhaust then ex. valve, and if it blows from the crankcase, its bad rings/piston.

 

ok so a compression check would check all those?

the funny thing is this didnt start happening till after they had the car...

 

yeah its funny how that **** works. luckily you have a powertrain warranty huh?

 

yea everything done so far has been under warranty. i just have to convince them that my raptor shiftlight sticker is not a tuning sticker lol they said it looks like atuning software.... i was like its my shift light...

how does a compression check actually work? if i bought one at pep boys or something?

 

you thread the end of it in where your spark plug goes, disable the fuel system by pulling a relay, and crank the engine over. you'll get a reading and compare it to spec to see if its okay or not

 

Remove a spark plug and disconnect the harness that goes to the fuel injectors. Screw threaded tester and gauge into the spark plug hole then crank the engine a few times. The gauge will retain the highest reading.

 

You just take out a spark plug, screw in the test in its place. Disconnect the injectors cable (right on side of the head) and crank the motor about 4 times. Very simple.

 

im probably going to let them do it....

 

Lol, well according to them, it will not fail a compression test until your at 36K miles IMO.

 

bingo your leaking coolant into the oil.... get it fixed asap
