Im thinking about getting a Cobalt SS 2.4 fully loaded and i was thinking about waiting to 08. I have heard they are going to do away with the SS, They have one about 3 1/2 hours away for me for MSRP 20,999. I called them they said they can diffently do better than that, The only thing it dont have is onstar and possibly XM.

Didnt the SS come standard with XM? So what should i do?

 

My '06 SS n/a didn't? I basically got it exactly as I wanted (sunroof, Pioneer, cloth, MP3). I got the auto for reasons that at the time were logical. Still kinda are, but it's not as fun. And I changed out my MP3 headunit anyway for a Kenwood unit. lol. I'd just go for the'07 because if you wait for '08, they won't deal as much as with an '07.

 

from the sound of things...You wont find a 08 Cobalt SS cuz Chevy isnt gonna make em.

They'll still have the 2.4 in 08, just not calling it an SS (its now the Sport Coupe or Sport Sedan). If you want Laser Blue or Sunburst Orange, BUY NOW, cause those colors are gone in 08. '08 adds StabiliTrak and XM is standard

 

If you want an SS 2.4 buy it quick cause from the looks of it they won't be around in a year.

 

If you for sure getting a 2.4L buy an 07.. Thats what i did with mine i bought an 06 right before they released the 07's and they gave me a hell of a discount because they wanted to get all of the 06's off the lot...Thats if you really dont have to have Xm and onstar..

 

So the 2006 and 2007 SS n/a's are rare cars now. haha!

Either everyone has their facts mixed up or they still dont recognize the 2.4 ss. its the ss/sc thats going for 08, not the ss. https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/general-cobalt-68/08-cobalt-changes-56847/

if you have spacific options you want on your 2.4, then order it. it is a pain in the ass to find the one you want, trust me. i searched the entire midwest for a blue ss coupe with just a sunroof & bags for a year and came up with nothing. Eventually i just ordered one. I ordered an 07 last november and got it before the new year. came with XM STANDARD plus the nice radio and all the other standards. I was still able to haggle with my dealer, got 800 off sticker, not much but still.

Yah, the 2.4 will still be there but its not called an SS anymore in '08 cause their taking the SS badge away from cobalts...

really i only see 1 2.4 ss in columbus at the meet and mine so thats 2. ive only seen maybe a select handful at the most ever on the road. so far mine is retaining is value pretty good i can sell it outright for 16k right now not including parts. i only owe 13k

i've seen over a dozen around where i live. I'd get an 07. Like the guy said earlier they will be willing to work more on the 07's to get ride of them before the 08's.

I would go ahead and get an 07 if you can get one now. It will be more uncommon in the long run and plus it isnt going to be that much different then the 08 besides some different colors, standard curtain air bags, and some other stuff.

Maybe late fall. Thats when I started to see 07s on the lot.

 

I'd wait to see if there are any significatn changes/options and than decide.

 

I dont know about where you live, but here they come in late july. I think its based upon a dealer's significance and priority.

I didnt know they were renaming the 2.4, wont really make a difference; it will still have a 2.4. if the 'rare' factor intrest you then get an 07. start looking for deals in mid june.

 

Im thinking about gettting the 07 but in about another month when the 08 prices and information comes out. I called them and the MSRP is 20,999 and he said he could do way better than that and i belive they have had it a little while. If they still have it in 1 month how much should i shoot for in the price they have a 1,000 rebate and my dad gets the GM discount for where he works for gm. I dont really want to drive there to much because its like 3 1/2 hours away.

 

just get it from a dealer in town - have them do a dealer transfer

i did it - got mine from 14 hours away, but picked her up at the dealer 10 mins away
