I just put on a Hurst shifter or you could use any aftermarket shifter and just don;t adjust the shift cables right and ouila no more reverse lockout.

cause it annoys me to have to pull up on the stupid nub just to get it into reverse. and i feel that GM thinks I am a moron and will through my car in reverse by accident. So it's my way of say F-U to The Man!!!!

I did it once when my shifter knob came off. Just remove the plastic pieces that slide over the rod.

Makes 5th gear almost impossible. Reverse is way farther to the right than 5th gear, so if you try to shift into 5th it goes too far and won't go in.

False!!! I have the hurst shifter. I Had the lip of the shifter filed off and a little of the plastic piece locking the shifter into place. no problems with fifth or reverse!!! No Idiot Reverse FTW!!

yeah, but put yourself in their shoes, there's a bunch of stupid dummies out there who cant drive, plus if someone was in the habit of driving a 6 speed they might accidently throw it in reverse when not thinking...Some people have "high moments"

Point noted I really just didn't want it. I am used to just throwing it into reverse and when people who have driven stick try to put it in reverse they pretty much try to rip the shifter off not knowing about the reverse lock out. Yes I know I should tell them when they take my car, but sometimes i forget. It doesn't hurt the car not having it. and it was easy enough to do, so it was done.

Im telling u my dad almost ripped up the shifter when we first got the car at the dealer becuase he did not know it had a lock so teh dealer told him what to do lol. And like a week later my mom had the same moment to the extent that she could not get the car out of the parking spot so she decided to stay (maybe it was for the best ). And then even i forgot it too lol.
