Final Drive Ratio

What's your RPM at speed? Mine is 3000 at 80 MPH in 5th with 2.2 litre. I'm interested in numbers from other 2007 models, auto or 2.4 litre. I want to figure out if I can change something.

At 80mph in 4th (07 2.2L auto) I'm at 2850-2900 just a tad under 3K.

you can actually do the math yourself if you look up the gear ratios and final drive ratio. also, i believe the 2.4 uses the same F23 manual tranny and 4t45e auto tranny as the other balts...i my be wrong though

anway, for any given speed, it would be (RPM/gear ratio)/final drive ratio= wheel RPM
then take wheel circumfrence*wheel RPM*60=speed (in what ever units you used to measure the wheel circumfrence...probably inches or feet)

my bad...never really considered the differentials would have different ratios between the 2.2 and 2.4

but at any rate, you can still do the math to figure speed@RPM

Thanks Halfcent, looks like I might be able to trim the RPM a little with an available gear.
