Well, heres some info I'm sure 99% of people are not aware of. Might want to sticky this.
As everyone, well not eveyone knows, the SS takes a very rare 5-110 bolt pattern. NOT 5-100 like your Cavalier, NOT 5-114.3 like your Grand Prix, etc. The only GM car previously with the pattern was the wonderful (pfft) Cadillac Catera (which the up model one has wheels almost identical to the SS I noticed last week)
Anyhow, more manufacturers will be coming out with exposed lug (a wheel without a center cap) wheels in the pattern, but it wont be immediate of course. We'll have some in 18"s and 19"s in like November.
I have another solution. I work for a wheel company in wholesale (unfortunately). There is a process called inserting, whereby a wheel with two existing bolt patterns has a new one drilled into it (that partially touches one of the existing patterns) and a hollow insert is pounded into it to strengthen the new holes.
Now, were you to get an EXPOSED LUG wheel in a pattern ideally like 5-112 (Mercedes) or at worst 5-114.3 (most common FWD bolt pattern) you could have them inserted to 5-110.
Now you might say (as I also thought) "that will look like hell!". Well, heres the thing, if it is, for instance a 5-112 wheel, you are only having the lugs moved 1mm on average across the pattern. So, that would look fine. Also, you would want to make SURE to use hub rings to prevent any possible vibration.
Doing this is TOTALLY safe, we have people here that have been in the wheel manufacturing industry for years, I have no problem doing this to my personal vehicle.
We are getting in some exposed lug 18"s I like, when I do this I will post pictures.
Oh one more thing, about getting wheels inserted, make sure the shop knows what they are doing, and I believe retail cost can be $20-$30 per wheel. We chage our wholesalers $10, but thats wholesale of course.

I'll stick with factory wheels, there aren't a lot of cars that have a 5x110 pattern, but there's more than just the Catera. As far as current cars go, there's obviously the SS and Redline, the G6, and the 2004-2005 Malibus. There's also the later model SAAB 900s, the 9-5s, and the 9-3s.
It is a good option though if people are finding wheels they like appearance wise that won't fit the 5x110.

However, switching to another OEM GM wheel? Pass.

mmmm....would need to order minimum of 40 or 60 pieces in the pattern, in one style.
As I said we have some slated for production, but theres production time and 1.5 mos shipping time.
