my friend has an '05 Focus, slighty modded, and he's planning on changing over to this on his next oil change. Whether or not it really "adds hp" and all that stuff.........well, i'll just have to wait and see. But for anyone thats switched to this stuff........does it really help?

Royal Purple is a wasit of cash man. Trust me, many people will not agree with me. I have seen test performed with royal purple verse Ams Oil and Mobil 1. Get the Mobil 1 performance oil. There is a normal synthetic Molbil 1 and a Performance Synthetic. The performance Mobil one is exactly like Royal Purple and Ams Oil. All 3 are great its just a price differance is all.

Keep in mind, my best freinds Mustang GT has alot of engine work done. He also agrees from dyno runs that there is no differance between Royal Purple and Ams Oil. The oils may be a little differant but it does not result in any big differances in hp or anything. Royal Purple just advertises differantly then the others.

Very interesting. I was wondering about this 2.... Royal Purple. And after thinking about it, I see like the Sockcar guys and La Mans Guys using Mobil 1. I figured it must be good enough

yeah, Royal Purple just seems too pricey though. I've been using Mobil 1 synthetic since day 1 and really have no intentions of changing that. However, my local Wal-Mart, Car Quest and Autozone were out of the 5-W30 Mobil 1 yesterday when I went to get some.......what gives? lol

It is not crap. It is a very good oil. The top oils are Ams Oil, Mobil 1, and Royal Purple. All I'm saying is your paying for the name. Performance will not show any differance on our cars. Now if you had a 1000 whp car it may make a slight differance of 1-3 hp but thats when 1-3hp makes a differance. With our cars Mobil 1 Performance Oil would be best.

^ this is comming from me, someone who has used differant oils including Royal Purple. I will never wast my cash on that oil again. Performes the same on the dyno as Ams Oil and Mobil 1 Performance. There is a differance between the PErformance fully synthetic Mobil 1 and Regular fully Synthetic.

Must be real good bang for the buck Everyone whos owns a performance car and tried differant oils knows the Mobil 1 can't be beat. Its well worth the price.

Well, Jason Whitfield, who has a 1,000+ hp 2.2 Cobalt (thats street legal btw!!!) used Mobil 1, as its one of his primary sponsors. So if its good enough for a 1,000hp 'balt, im sure its more than good enough for my "maybe 200hp" 'balt.

From personal use of royal purple, I noticed a very little increase in performance, as for gas mileage I went from 250gpt(gallons per tank) to 300-325gt depending on how I drive.

Interesting, was this a switch from Mobil 1 PERFORMANCE fully synthetic to Royal Purple. Or was it regular fully synthetic Mobil 1 to Royal Purple?

NO GOOD! very bad oil considering it is very cheap but its very thin oil breaks down very fast. even in normal driving conditions. ive used it in prior cars not in my car i only use mobil 1.

If you really want to know how your motor oil stands up read this post. It is the complete motor oil bible. It will tell you EVERYTHING you ever wanted to know about oil. It is very long over 177 pages. At the very end the guy put together a chart wiht each oil ranked as to wich is the best to worst by weight. Very good read.

That would explain alot since Castrol is not rated anywhere near the top for performance.

for any noticeable change you would have to change out the transmission fluid, gear oil and engine oil with royal purple lubricants not just the engine oil...here's a link
