SSC Springs SAVED MY LIFE! Litterly

Well, me and my girl were heading to work this morning when an oncomming 18 wheeler lost one of his tires. Rim and all like the lugs were off and it came rolling at us at about 75 MPH. Figured one of us would be dead instantly if that hit us head on but somehow i swarved to the left and it missed us by less then a foot no lie. The car in front of us dodged to the right and spun out in front of us while we dodged to the left and then slid next to her. I am thankful i bought these springs because WOW did my car handle like it was on rails litterly. I cant even describe the way the car moved when i jolted to the left. it was soo smooth and tight.

If you were thinking about springs.. GET SSC

Well that was my death defying day in a nut shell. lets jsut say ive never seen anything like that and it was the weirdest and scaryest thing ive ever seen while driving.

I saw a vette get nailed with one. On the LIE, he was driving westbound and the truck was east bound, tire bounced over the gaurdrail and landed right on the hood at a combined impact speed of 120mph+./.. car just exploded

Good thinking on your feet. A friend of mine had a similar situation that resulted in his brothers death. A tire came off of a tow truck on the other side of the highway crashed thru his parents suv windshield and hit his brother in the pass. side. Basicly cut him in half. What made it worse was he lost his other brother 4 mnths b4 in a motorcylce accident. I thought that was just crazy.

Damn, thats pretty bad that so many people know someone personally that got killed by a truck tire. There really should be some solution for that.

so lowering springs saved your life... there you go posting dumb threads again

all i want is a logical explanation as to how they would make that much of a diff alone? seriously

ahh i see, read something in car n driver about that, **** actually works.

springs alone wont help that poor car. I drove a base cobalt for a week, and my dads boat handles better than that thing.

best of luck avoiding the rest of those semi's

loving the attitude!

no one ever said a base cobalt handles all that great, but the majority of the problem is in the stock springs. Going from the factory springs to a decent set was like getting out of a 15 passenger van and into a car. Its still not impressive by any means, but it does handle much better.

so are you trying to say an ss cobalt has more potental to handle better? It has better lower control arms, not that the base ones are bad or that it would really have a significant effect on handeling. sway bars are the same. shocks are a little different, not by much. all the bushings are the same. the springs, well thats why we are using aftermarket springs. is it the park bench size wing on the back that makes all the difference? did I miss anything?

The handling in the Cobalt base model sucks! Its horrible and drives me crazy on the highway. I have no idea what the SS handling is like but I suspect it is better but not wonderful. The first thing for me to do next to this car is fix the handling because it scares me. Comming around a turn on the highway at 4am doing 140KPH you know its granny suspension.

The SS/Supercharged suspension setup is awesome.
