2006 cobalt ss/sc just shut off...

Hey,

Tried searching for threads but couldn't find one and am concerned... I was driving along back from a BBQ and i was goin about 80km/h and there was a massive bump and then another right after... felt like a roller coaster lol... After i hit those bumps, i thought it scratched under my car, but i didnt hear any grinding or scratching so it didn't... But then i realized that my gauages were at 0 and my electrical steering was gone... My radio was still working, brakes were working, but nothing else... So i slowly came to a stop on the side of the road (wow what a difference power steering is lol) and started the car again, and it's perfectly fine... What could've caused this!?!? I have to go to my stealership soon to get some stuff repaired, guess im gunna let them know about this...

Thanks all,
Vic

My buddy used to have a key chain that had every key known to man on it, must have been about 30 or 40 keys on it. It was stupid, and heavy. The weight of those keys caused his coby's ignition cylinder (Where the key goes in) to slightly bend and this happened. Maybe you have an issue with you're ignition or something. Just a guess.

or the bump coulda just jarred everything in a way that it didn't like. Cars are more computers nowadays then machines... it got jarred and did a reboot just like my tempermental laptop.

Tell the dealer, see waht they say, but I bet it doesn't happen again. If it does, then you have an issue. I had a rental that took a huge splash underneath and the electrical system crapped out. Trying getting a monster grand prix off the road with no power steering.

I wouldn't worry unless it happens again

My car did this twice today!! I was stopped in my driveway (that's another story...) but the car was in neutral with the ebrake pulled. I went to get out, and the car turned off. I'm guessing I hit the key with my knee. Then later I was stopped in a drive through, car in neutral, ebrake pulled, clutch out. I know I bumped the key with my knee, and it turned off!!

Help! I was just going to start a thread about this...
