springs, just rear for now?

quick question, i just got fe5 ss/sc springs from a member. it's not a big drop, i was just looking to even it out a little bit. my question is if i don't have spring compressors, but will soon, is it ok to put on the rear springs and change the front ones in like a week or 2? will that hurt anything? or should i jsut wait and do both together. if it was aftermarket i wouldn't do just the rear, but considering i'm only going to be getting between a 1/2 inch and an inch drop, i'm not sure if that would be a problem.

bump

you will have no problems, u dont need spring compressors for the rear springs.

this is what i did, raise the back end of your car up (both sides), take both rear wheels off and you will see the shock dampeners, if you look at the top of them u will see a big silver bolt take this out on both sides, now u have access to the rear springs pull 'em out and you will see that the springs have those plastic cup looking things on 'em, take those off put them on the new springs re-install 'em. now to get your rear end back in place where you need it i used another jack, carefully raise the rear up into place where you need it and re-install the bolts, re-install wheels and you good to go!

have fun, and be safe most of all.

Did you swap out the springs yet? If its not too late could you take before/after pics... or if it is just after pics lol. I'm looking at going with SS/SC springs until I have the cash to go with Eibachs and Koni struts.

All you need to do the rear is a set of jack stands, a jack, and some hand tools. The rear is easy!

And BTW the SS 2.4 has the same springs so that should open up your search for used ones a little.

yea, i did it this morning, took about a half hour to do both sides on the rear. most of the time was spent lifting the car and getting the wheels off though.

by the numbers, it lowered it almost exactly a half inch. but, that half inch looks damn good, the car is totally evened out now. well worth it for the price, but if you want a big drop not the way to go.

I was talking to my friend about just doing SS springs in the rear. Since our cars are FWD he argues that stiffer rear springs and softer front springs would help combat understeer. What do you guys think?

Very possible if the car is pushed to the limit. Bt, I don't see why you would buy a set of springs and not install the fronts.

it would probably be equal to having 2 fat friends sit in the back of the car

HAHA true. I'm going to install all four eventually. I just want to get the FE5 or FE3 struts before I install the fronts. I'll prob ride around with just the rears in to try it out.
