Bad gas milage

My DIC MPG is at like 21 at best on the city. I'm not sure if this is off or my car sucks. I don't go and ripe the throttle every time, maybe once or twice per fill up. My car is a 2005 stock LS, with power everything, I don't run the air all that much either. i bought it liek 2 months ago and its been this way since I got it. Put 87 oct gas in it as recommended. I bought it with 2k miles on it and it's from 2005, could there be something that needs replaced or something hurting my gas milage?

try resetting your dic and see what happens. and keep in mind the mileage that they say a car will get is the best possible, so you have to drive like an old man to get that mileage.

Do you sit and let it idle alot? or warm it up way ahead of time in the AM?

I get 25 and I do ALL city driving. You just need to learn to drive more efficiently, don't race to every light, don't hit the brakes when going downhill when you can, don't smash the pedal when the light turns green.

And how the hell were you able to pick up a 2005 model with only 2000 miles on it??? Did you get it from a 90 year old lady?

thanks for all the input guys. I'm guessing the car sat outside for a few winters here, lots of snow, so i was wondering if that would effect anything.

have you changed the oil? if it was on a lot they probably had crap in it and they also probably didn't change it for the whole two years....
