Well, after the car sitting for a couple months, I decided to finally tear it apart today. After 3 hours and 15 minutes here is what I got to see.

And finally the beautiful Exedy clutch I never wanted to see again!

 

Lovely. Too bad the clutch didn't slip. Maybe woulda saved the tranny.

 

Yeah I'd say between the great gripping power of the clutch and the Driveshaft Shop axles, there was only one place left for it to go!

Oh, well. Another one bites the dust. Hopefully this next one lasts long enough to get the spare on I have built right!

 

Is the Exedy cracked or is that just a scratch? Get LSD, it will help slightly.

That clutch is a thing of beauty, sucks about the tranny though, have you thought about the 6-spd conversion?

That is just a scratch on the clutch, and that tranny is the Seocnd LSD tranny! I'd love the Hydramatic GM trans that Brian Ballard and Jason Whitfield use. Anyone want to donate the serious funds for what it'd probably cost? I know that I couldn't break one of those!

The six speed conversion is out of the question because I could have the trans built for that sort of money.

On a serious note, the car has a lot of power with all my mods. My tune worked out to be very torquey and actually on par with the cars horsepower numbers. I have Driveshaft Shop axles, 235/45/17 Toyo T1R tires, and the lovely Exedy clutch. With all my mods, I can definitely see why the trans would break as it is the last weak link in the system. I have found someone to build/bulletproof a trans for me, but I don't have the funds at the moment for it. Possibly by next race season I'll have it done, but for now another stock LSD trans will go in and Torque Management will be turned back on with HPTuners.

Hey don't beat up on this Tranny like you did the other one and it might last.

 

What the hell is the fun in that? That's why I bought the Integra to beat up on at the track! What really sucks is that I have bare bones into the Integra and it's faster than the Cobalt! OUCH!

 

Maybe a twinscrew would change things for that problem.

By far the best clutch ever put in the car PERIOD! Stock clutch sucked, the CM FX300 fiasco I went through sucked until the final version I had, and the EXEDY kicked a$$ hands down since I installed it!

07LaserBlueSS, someone already has dibs on it, but hasn't bought it yet. I'll keep you posted. I'll be selling the whole trans as I don't have the time to tear it apart.

 

Hey guys... I've noticed that on occasion (more often than any other gear at any rate) 2nd wont sync correctly... does that mean my tranny will soon look like this one?

 

I've never really had a problem with second gear. Do you have an aftermarket shifter? The linkage just may need to be adjusted a little bit. From what your sig says, I think you are far away from all the mods I have, so your tranny should be good for a long time to come if you don't grind the gears.
