Just got an SS, got some questions:

Yeah I've bee nsearching awhile now and I am sure these questions/answers have been done a hundred times, but I can;t seem to find all my answers.

Anyways this is my DD and I'd like to make more power, but safely. So here are my questions:

1. Looking at the GMPP stage 2 kit and exhaust, I see on CED that they list the gains one should expect. After seeing a few threads on stock whp (190s-220s) What do stg.2/exhaust cars make at the wheels?

2. I'd like the car (with a good driver) to be able to run a low 13 sec. 1/4, what else is needed besides above? CAI, downpipe, injectors etc?

3. I see people running pretty high boost #s, I assume the internals on these engines are forged? I know I say the pistons are supposedly rated at 300whp.

4. Would running 275ish whp be perfectly safe?

5. How strong is the manual tranny?

1. depends on the dyno and car, every car is different
2. with drag radials, sure, street tires. ehhhh, who knows.
3. nope, i did 275 to the tire on stock internals, stock cams. and a basic if it knocks it's going to blow up tune.
4. depends on the person tuning it and supporting mods.
5. don't ham fist it, it will live.

1. The higher end of mid 200's

2. A different car

3. No, the pistons are not forged. The internals are reasonably solid, it's the blower that can't make power.

4. There's people doing it reliably, so yes.

5. The clutch sucks. No idea on the tranny. The RL has had 3 years of very hard gear banging and launching with no issues.

yeah man, go show that vid to the mustang forums, the thread will have 30 pages by tomorrow, they hate us!~ specially when we beat them. but yah. a stage 2 cobalt with CAI and exhaust makes it a drivers race between a solid mustang and a cobalt.
