...anything is possible, but lack of tuning is our current road block

There are TONS of threads about s/c the 2.2, just have to search & read, but here are 2 threads you might find helpful:

F/I: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-2l-l61-performance-tech-45/l61-turbo-super-forced-induction-information-thread-26325/
Aftermarket: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-2l-l61-performance-tech-45/aftermarket-l61-cobalt-parts-27680/

There is a Turbocharger kit available for the 2.2 thru Garrett, but the reflash that comes with the kit does not work w/ the '07 2.2 ECU

he has an '07, tuning is "sort of" a different story... but they should have HPtuners before the 05-06

piggybacks will work just fine on an 07. Tuning isnt the hardest part. its actually the easiest. The hardest part is picking your form of forced induction and putting the parts on the car. Tuning is the relaxing part. If you get a decent tuner he can have it done in a couple hours or less.

Tuning is the part that makes sure your car doesnt go BOOM! what is "relaxing" about that?

The fact that it takes only about 20 minutes to wire in and an experienced tuner to finish in about 2hrs or less. That would be the finishing touches on the project if you ask me. Doing the wrenching is the hard part.
