Arrow Syn Oil

I just bought my balt' maybe 4 weeks ago. I have 900 miles on it now and I'm going to change the oil at 1000. If I want to go synthetic should I go full synth right off the bat or do the half and half for the first oil change, then the next oil change after that go full synthetic?

My car is running full synthetic. Just do an oil change and put the full synthetic in with a new oil filter of course and you are good to go. Once you switch over to full synthetic it is strongly recommended not to switch back. Your engine will work better and last longer with full synthetic.

Right, once I go full synth I probably won't go back. The way I drive, changing oil every 3000 is a PITA. Thanks guys!

You should still check your oil level though.

To the original poster, you can go with a full synthetic change. It's not like it's going to hurt anything.

I've been running synthetic oil since the day I got the car and I've got over 123,000 and it still runs well.

I've used Valvoline Syn., Castrol Syn., and Mobil Syn. Right now I'm using Mobil's 15,000 or one year syn oil. Just wanna see if it will live up to that guarantee. I was taught though to use the factory oil as long as it lasts to break the motor in but correct me if I'm wrong. I switched to syn on my second oil change and its worked out well so far

From what I've been told, 1,000 is the break-in period, that's why I'm changing it.

I went to Jiffy Lube and they told me it was a big deal to change the oil in the SS. Is this true? They sent me to the dealer where they offered me free oil changes.

Big deal as in difficult??? Probably becuase the morons at Jiffy Lube don't want to reach in there and get it...Its not hard really, just a little pain to get to, but if you have the right tools, it shouldn't be much of a problem at all.

If you have the oil life monitoring system, its ok to change it when it tells you. It all depends on how you drive too along with the conditions you drive in...ie all highway, you will be fine, stop and go city traffic, prob better off changing at 3000.

It wouldn't hurt to post this question in the 2.0 section; that way more people who have that engine will see it.

By the way, it helps to have little nimble fingers to get the filter out. The big oafs at Jiffy Lube probably couldn't hang on to it and slip it out from under the supercharger.
