Car jumps after speed bump?

Ok if Im in a parking lot and I'm in first gear and I go over a speed bump, like at maybe 5mph, the car will sort of "jump forward" 2-3 times then its fine. Its really odd.I dont let my foot off the pedal or anything. Once its done jumping its fine till the next speed bump. Maybe Im doing something wrong? Any thoughts?

are you clutching as you're going over the bump, or not?

if not, its probably just a result of you trying to keep a steady foot on the gas, when the car isn't steady. if it happens to me, it'd jump, i'd let off a hair, it'd throw me forwards, that'd put my foot down on the gas more, throw back mroe, repeat.

or is this the coming up to a stoplight, clutch in, idle bounce from 1000 to 250 to 1200 to 500 to 1200 to 750 to idle?

I havent driven stick for more then a week. I do try to keep a steady foot on the gas. I do not push the clutch in when I go over the bump. Idle doesnt bounce. Ive only had it do a "idle hunt" once and never again. Its the car physically jerking forward 2-3 times after I finish going over the speed bump.

So let me ask, how do you guys go over a speed bump "smooth"? Do I push the clutch in while going over the speed bump and let it out after?

Try pushing the clutch in and recatching first gear...First gear can be weird when you're new to driving stick. I started driving stick 6/25/07, and I used to jerk like that even when not going over a bump...it's just new driving...not everyones perfect at first :P

my ss/sc was my first stick also.. i, too, had the problem of the car jumping going over speed bumps..

what i do;

slow down, push in the clutch, go over the speed bump, slowly let the clutch back out (while your still slowly moving).. try that out bro.
