Black Wax??

My brother was telling me something the other day about wax made specifically for black cars but I went to the store and didn't see it (I just bough an 06' cobalt, and It doesn't appear to have been taken care of extremly well, paint swirls, scratches, etc.) nothing you can clean out, but im just curious if he knows what he's talking about.

Anyone here heard of or used wax for black painted cars?

Turtle Wax used to make one. I used it once and never used it again. Couldn't see a difference. Stick with Meguire's 3 step to help the balt get back in shape.

ive had good results with Zaino and Adams. Adams tend to shine a little bit more and the Zaino lasts longer - roughly 4-6 months! Both are easier to use than any wax ive bought in a store

eagle 1 nano is what i use now and it works great, but to get the scratches and other crap off the paint you don want to do a cleaner, polish and then a wax or the clay bar. Be careful with the buffer, they will leave swirl and scratch marks if your not careful.

yeah I need to pick up a clay bar still before I wash it. It will have to be dirty until wednesday becuase Im too busy with work untill then but yeah.

For reference, what is my order of operations here?

1.clean (Wash)
2.dry
3.polish
4.claybar
5.wax
6.buff

?? is that right? let me know if i got anything backwards.

also, if I were to buy like a powerball instead of a buffer would that be a safer bet considering I've never really buffed before?

well I just read brandons step by step and that helped out alot. its seems to be more like

Wash
Dry
Soap up
Clay
Rinse
Compound
Buff
Polish
Buff
Gloss
Buff
Wax
Buff

LOL
im in for the long haul next week i guess. lol

EDIT: another question...

I have some sticker residue on the back of the car from the dealership. which products can I use to get this off without damaging the paint? Goo-gone is the only thing I can think of off hand but I don't know how safe it is.

Goo gone works fine... it's citrus based and won't hurt the paint. Just make sure you wash thoroughly and wax afterwards.
