or does EVERYBODY try to race you in ur balt. I just picked up a ss/sc and I swear everybody and their mother in all types of cars wanna race me. I have a 2000 Camaro SS with heads/cam and bolt ons and cars almost never try me. The second I get the balt out on the road it seems like they are flockin towards me.

 

it is because you have the wing... if you go wingless, you will fly under everyone's radar

 

Yeah, it is the wing. People hear a fully built Camaro and they don't want to mess with it unless thay have something close which is rare. But a 4 cylinder with a wing has a rep for being all show and no go.

 

Roger. I've got the smaller wing that looks more like the one that comes on the LT's, and for the most part I get left alone. I get challenged once in a while but not constantly. Never by anything that actually posed a threat (Acura RSX mostly). An STI revved at me once but he was just being an idiot considering we both were sitting at a light with cars in front of us.

 

Lol I'm the opposite. Everyone wanted to race my civic until they heard the blowoff valve. Made sure I got the SS/SC with the low pro spoiler and now no one notices me.

that is the case.. but all the hondas stay away from me. and i get all the mustangs... and some new punk in a 2000 base saturn with a fart can on it.. kid looks about 16, and everytime i see him. he wants to run.. not even worth my time kid..

 

i have the big wing on my ss/sc, and beleave it or not, its hard to find people to race where i am, and we have 200,000 people in my town.

 

Not really.Ive had my car for just over a year now,and not one person that i can remember has tried to race me.I was on the highway once,and some mini van tried to run me,but that doesnt count.I think he just wanted to hear my exhaust,lol.Other than that,noone really tries to race me.Even if they did,i wouldnt race them.I got fucked 3years ago with a racing ticket.Since then,i havent street raced.

people rev on me alll the time. If traffic is clear I pretend like I want to race but always let them win every time. Lulls them into a false sence of superiority.

 

actually in the year ive owned my car I have only had one person try to race me (an old ass supra that was primed and had a fart can). In my civic EVERYONE wanted to race me, so it was a nice change.

 

Not really. I just have guys checking me out. hehe.

Granted I have beat an Eclipse who was revving at me at a stop light. Also pulled on a guy who was tailgating me on a one lane road, then when we turned onto a two lane he just fell back and it took him about a block to catch up.

I have been followed by a Neon who thought he was cool. Had a giant aftermarket spoiler with a fart can. I was not impressed.

 

I haven't had any other cars other than other Cobalt models try to race me. Just an LS, and a SS NA have raced me.

 

nobody ever tries to race me...thats why I got the four door.

 

I've had 2 people try so far in the 2 months I've had this car, one was a new Civic Si, and a V6 Tiburon. Didn't race either one , although it was very tempting.

 

Not sure what it is really.. Myself and another guy on here live in the same neighborhood, and we drive around the same places. He gets people try to race him at least twice a day, I get it maybe once a month.

We've figured it's probably because he's looks more sporty being Yellow, and mine lesser cause it's Orange.

Yes! Its the visual package and the Cobalt perceived reputation from the auto magazines. I "built" my Cobalt as a 2.4L SS for economy and safety.... it didn't take long to find out it was a magnet for wannabe racers!

well its weird for me almost no one pays any attention to me in my balt but in my mustang its diferent story. everyone notices my stang and wants to run. maybe its my 315s in the back. every once in a while an rsx or metro with a fart can (this is arkansas) will try o hang and ill toy with them but its very rare.

I have an auto ss 2.4 and it attracts a shitload of unwarranted attention. I ran into a heavily modded 1.8T the other day that wanted to run and I calmly rolled down the window and said "its an automatic 2.4ss" ...he looks at me and says "oh i thought it was a supercharged version"

A lot of ppl are under the general assumption that any SS is a supercharged version, some of my friends first mistook my 2.4 for a 2.0 lsj and wanted to hear the supercharger whine until i popped the hood and they went "wtf".
