Turboed Grand Am vs. M3

So here's my war story....

Coming home from work at G.E. the last week at around 6pm I was driving down I-471 and ran into an open gap between the traffic....

This was the second full day my team had the Grand Am working good after the one month engine and tranny swap, and me and him were sure it was running okay.... We'd never really opened it up until now, so I downshifted into 3rd from 5th and gave it a litte bit of a throttle opener.... I managed to pull the full 17 pounds of boost to the 7200rpm fuel cut off, shifted in 4th and decided to cool it back to the speed limit... thats when Sean looks in my rear view and says,

"Check this out..."

I looked in my driver's side mirror and spotted a cherry red late 2003 Dinan BMW M3 that was riding on my ass, and decided to roll up next to me..... He rolls his heavily tinted window down and i notice that it's my supervisor out at the engineering center at G.E...... Everyone knows i hate the ******, and everyone else hates him too lol, and that day all we heard at work was how he managed to get his hands on an "extremely rare" Dinan M3 with the SMG paddle shift that changed gears in "less than the blink of eye" as he said....

So anyways, he's always made fun of me and Sean because of the fact that we still drive rather "primitive" cars... (Sean has an 05 supercharged Cobalt undergoing a turbo transformation).. and he shouts of of his window, "So that's the shitbox you two have been working on for a month? HAHAHA!!".... then it happens...

He kicks his little fancy SMG thingy into second gear and tries to take off... I remember seeing his taillights when Sean says, "own that bitch"... So I put it down into second, hit the "race" button on the manual boost controller, and hit 20.5 pounds of boost.... I start spinning the front tires and the Bimmer stops pulling on me.... That thing sounded pretty awesome going to 7,500rpm until i heard my blow off when I shifted hard into third....

I come right up to his door, and the look on his face was something that I'd never forget.... From there he made some kind of face that looked as if he was constipated, or maybe he was stomping on the gas harder in hope that the little Grand Am wouldn't hop past his BMW... but it happened anways....

Fourth gear....

I looked back in the mirror and saw him about about 1.5 cars back behind me.... "this thing runs twelves!!!" Sean shouted because we both knew that the bimmer ran 12.8's on a good day with a good driver.....

Fifth gear...

I held the boost down until i lost steering feedback due to the body lift at high speed... When Sean asked how fast i was going, i looked down and 150mph speedo was pegged....

Good ol' Supervisor Gehring never mentioned or bragged about his Bimmer the after that day...... So nice to find ways to shut your cocky little boss up eh? Nothing better than a Grand Am with a T3/T4 Hybrid Ecotec......

One victory for the underdogs

I don't doubt you beat your boss' M3, assuming you have what you say you have done. But there is no way in hell that you can beat a Dinan M3.

Good KILL either way!

what i'm tryin to say is that my Grand Am could run high to mid 12's if i actually got some traction.... ever take a look at my trap speed? and Yes guys i do know that my supervisor was definetaly lying about the Dinan part because those Dinan M3's are supercharged and they run low 12's..... His must have been stock, or maybe one of those CSL M3's, both of which run low 13's with a trap speed about 3-4mph lower than mine.... Keep in mind that i didn't blow it away either, i only put a little more than one car on it with my full 20.5 pounds of boost

Good to see another turbo grand am out there.

My friend used to have an 88 2.0L turbo GA. It would put nice cars to shame

I took it out for a spin and spanked a V8 Auto Camaro. lol

Not all Dinan M's are supercharged either. You get the Dinan badge by doing one of two things (or both if you have the money) You can either:

A: Buy the supercharger and recieve the badge

B: Buy everything else in the package and get the badge

This is how it used to work (don't know if it still works that way). My fiance had a Dinan M Coupe. He had EVERYTHING but the supercharger

Good kill.

But I would, and im sure no one would dispute this, rather have that M3, Dinan or not. Those things are just drop dead sexy. I saw a pic of the new V8 M3 coming out and I didnt like it nearly as much as the current model. Hopefully it was just a bad angle.

But until I can afford one Im all for embarassing guys in M3s. I have yet to meet one that isnt a complete d*ckhead. Especially when you see a teen/low 20s guy driving, they swear their some big shot even though daddy payed for it.

hey i get ya man.... i would love to have one of them things too.... but until i work up in the rankings a G.E. ... (i'm 18 in college, so therefore i'm only an intern)... I will never be coming close to the 75 grand thats required to purchace a Dinan M3..... and why didnt they mess the new one up?

Anyways until then... I'd rather stick to me and Sean's little four cylinder turbo GM's that will kick Gehring's little M3's ass....
