just got off the dealership about my stage 2 kit plz help

ok i just got off the phone with my dealership they installed my stage 2 kit and then didn't reflash it so i toke it back last saterday and they just called me and said something doesn't feel right that if you dont shift at 6500 rpms then it falls on its face and has no power so they are trying to figure out why dose anyone know what they are talking about? they said they reflashed it and that the redline hits about about 6700 not 7k and that its not a tune but it is a new programe that gm is running on the cobalts and that the tech has been on the phone with the tech line for 2 days and they can't figure out whats wrong?

Test out the revlimiter in second not first or just rev it slowly in neutral.

No it wouldnt . Its hard to say what could be wrong . When I had the stock redline , it hit dead on at 6500 on the tach . My 7200 redline hits dead on there too , so I doubt your tach would be off by 300 rpms .

How many miles are on your car ? I had repeated problems with the stock ngk plugs . My first set I had to replace at 18K miles . Is the car falling on it face above 6500 , or is it definately hitting the rev limiter at 6700 ? There would be quite a difference . If it were just a matter of it falling on its face , I would had to assume the problem could possibly be in your car . If its definately bouncing off a rev limiter before 7K , the its the calibration .

If his car idles at the correct RPM and still drops off at 6500, it is not from the tach being off. On todas cars the tachs are VERY accurate.

Just get a stage 3..then you can adjust it yourself

I have mine set to 14K RPM redline!! ...ok I don't...but you can image what it would be like if I did!!!...ok..no you can't...but I do have it set to 7500

I was just thinking about this lastnight. In every thread people post about not getting the flash. How do you know it's not at 7000? The stock tach is so off while at WOT you don't even know.

POS tach

well the only reason i know it wasn't reflashed was b/c it felt like i had lost a lot of power and everyone says that when you get a stage 2 it feels like a whole new car and mine felt like crap i couldnt even get the wheels to spin shifting from 1st to 2nd anymore and when i was in frist i could floor it and it would take it a while to go and i was hiting the wall at 6,500 but the dealer says it hits the wall at 6,700 thats only 200 rpms more so maybe i was wrong

The gauge calibrations must be hit or miss . The tach in my 05 is dead on to the rpm readout on a scan tool .

In the IRL i have to shift at 5800 in 1st and 6200 in 2nd to not hit the rev limiter at WOT.

Nope going stage 1 with 2.9 pulley should have the money by the end of the mnth or the 1st half of next mnth.

Oh btw Amarillo Dragway should be reopening soon they are moving the barriers this sat. They are trying to get it open by labor day. (crosses fingers)
