More insight on CAI CEL'S

Dropped my SS/SC off at the dealership today because the front rotors are trashed after 7,500 miles (this is due to GM's poor choice on very hard compound brake pads) and spoke with a service tech that owns an ss/sc. He said my cel was probably a lean code and I confirmed that it was(I had a code reader). I asked him what the deal was and he said they are very sensitive on how they get air, he said that he's seen the same code from the factory filter being twisted a bit the wrong way. I asked if it was in the vehicles programming and he confirmed that it was. He said that the factory program has such tight tollerances that it's throwing codes because of the reduced resistance from the intake. So I assume the only way to really remedy this problem is with new programming for each mod that is added to the car.

He also said that the stage one kit from GM will be reprogramming and a smaller pulley and the stage two will have larger injectors and some other stuff. So now we have even more stage speculations.

I can't say for sure. But I'd imagine since he is a GM tech, and owns an ss/sc he'd be a more valuable source than most. I'll see if I can talk with him some more about it and the staged upgrades when I pick up my car.

Has anyone ever searched WRX forums about P0171 codes? It's a standard OBDII Lean code and would be an issue too if they had any problems. ....
Oh, I'll save you the time of searching.
It's considered NORM for P0171 in WRX's also.. Isn't it Ironic..
