Hello ladies and gentlemen...need advice on performance upgrades...

First off I should let you all know that I don't own a Cobalt. However I do own a car called the Ariel Atom which is powered by the same GM Ecotec engine that the Cobalt uses. I'm sure some of you have heard of it. My Atom has the stage 2 upgrade and supposedly has 245 hp, I have not dynoed it yet.
Brammo who make the Atom for the US market also makes a 300hp Atom which is one stage higher but they are having problems making the 300 horses.
I would like to increase the HP of my Atom so it is making 300hp at the wheels. Any suggestions?
cheers

Ported head and cams, unless you'll lose too much time, money and efforts.

I take it that Ariel is working for 300 with the LSJ? I ask cause I know they use honda engines overseas.
The biggest problem hittting that power level with the LSJ is the blower. The eaton is way inefficient and really heats the air at higher boost levels. Guys are going with the dual-pass mod and many are using meth injection to try to cool down the charged air.
Probably the easiest way would be with a turbo or twin-screw conversion, with supporting mods. Check out Hahn Racecraft and Rebel for their kits.

Good Luck! You know we all envy you for owning such an amazing car!

Just my 2 cents, your reality may differ.

imo do NOT use a pully smaller than 2.8
it takes the blower past redline, and well past efficiency, and you start making heat more than making power.

head for 2.8 with some 60lb injectors with some tuning to start. theres probably 20-30hp sitting right there if its tuned well.

Beyond that the best way to hit 300 with an lsj is to spray it IMO.

I would agree with doing a turbo swap.
How much power are you wanting to have?
These engines will do serious power.

300 whp is going to put you in the danger zone as well. I'd look into converting to a return fuel system, and maybe look at some basic internals

DrPutts you are right on. Brammo who make the Atom are having a heck of a time getting 300hp out of the engine to those customers who purchased a "300hp" Atom.
I am glad I went for the 245hp model because some Atom owners have said that my tune is really good and that I may in fact have more than the stated 245hp.
You are right in that the air entering the supercharger is way too hot. Some of the Atom owners are talking about going with water injection to cool down the charge.
How much increased hp can I expect by going with a twin screw supercharger? I would like to see 300-350hp at the wheels. Not too much just enough.
Have any of you tried the rebelautoworxs twin screw conversion, and if so how is the performance? They said that with the supercharger upgrade I could expect 300+hp at the wheels.
I took my Atom to the drag strip a while back and posted an 11.9 sec 1/4 mile at 115mph. It was the first time at the drag strip with any car so I am sure I could get the time down to the low 11's with a little practice.
Here is the video link if you're interested.

I've been told that the Ecotec engine is a pretty robust engine. From your experiences would you all agree with that?
cheers
