Who has done the GM Build book for the LSJ

Has anyone here done the GM build book at all and how long did it take you and what parts did you use.

Is there a difference and is it worth it.

I have the forged pistons and plan on buying the springs when the warranty is up to complete the build.

has anyone been to the dyno with this setup and what did they post?

I think I'm the closest one to actually doing the whole thing to a T but GM is being a pain in the ass with some things so its taking me longer than I would like. My dyno with just the bottom end built on a dyno dynamics was a 258whp. Remember its not a RicerJet so don't even try to compare my numbers to those dyno's.

was the feb 18 video with the pistons and springs in. IN you sig,

Was the install a pain and did you have to pull the motor. 258 with your mods seems kinda low for all the work you have done.

Like he said, it's NOT a DynoJet so the numbers are more in line with real-world power, not glory numbers.

What video was that?

I've had the my pistons in for almost a year now. However I've been doing the top end for the past 2 months or so, I'm just figuring a bunch of bugs out at the moment.

Like I said before. If your looking to compare my cars numbers to anothers don't even bother. I dyno my car to compare myself against myself, not against anyone else. on top of that I dont get on fake dynos just so i can go weeeeeeeee I make power! lol. Mustang and Dyno Dynamics impose load and let you get a read world tune and feel for how your car actually stands. The latter of the 2 is the most unforgiving so that's were your "low numbers" are coming from

I think you're talking about the other book, the Ecotec book.

I think he meant the 300hp LSJ-specific build book.

First off, I know this is a zombie post.

Hows this going Alpha, hit any walls? Or have you changed your build now?

Did you get the same grind cams from Comp as in the build? How and from who did you get the blanks for grinding?

Anything else you could share about the build, that we may need to know?

the gm buildbook is meant as a guide to help with an engine buildup. none of the cars or builds in those books are designed as daily drivers, i doubt they get driven much at all. however, they are still quality builds.

im working on a 400hp 2.2l build right now. ive followed some things in the book however there is some stuff i just dont agree with. things like 0.006" piston to wall clearance for wiseco pistons. wiseco calls for .0025", .006" is far to much for any street driven car. the ring gaps called for in the book also were way out, nothing id use for a street car. as for the parts to put in, they have some good info, however i like to change some things around to make the car a little more street friendly.

if your interested in what im building, have a look here https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/advanced-performance-modifications-130/2-2l-turbo-ecotec-build-diary-91994/

Not sure.

If you're going to purchase it, your best bet is Crate Engine Depot.
