12.9 in a *near* stock SS/SC?

http://www.dragtimes.com/Chevrolet-C...slip-8596.html

Mods: 2.6 Pulley, SPEC clutch, and catback.
He nailed a 1.820 0-60ft!

Damn good driver? or Fake? This would make him about the 3rd fastest SS/SC recorded (not counting the insanely fast 12.05 with Nitrous)

I find that hard to beleive. Definatly needed new injectors and tun. And a 1.820 60ft? highly unlikely.

No doubt slicks too,or atleast D.Rs.Can't see the stock axles much enjoying a 1.82 short time either.

I wouldnt question that at all, thats very believable if you're a decent launcher with a 2.6" pulley...and the clutch/ flywheel combo helps too, the lightened flywheel helps you rev up quicker and the clutch lets you launch at higher rpm's so yeah easily believable...i'm an ok driver and with a 2.85" and clutch/ flywheel I ran a 13.6 on a pro tree at rockingham...my 60' was a 2.2 though..I believe it could've done better.....I wish I could get my 60' times lower, damn the open differential and my lack of mount/ suspension mods, lol! ANwyas, I'm agreeing with the 12.9 not the 12.05...I'd have to see that one....

He obviously had bigger injecters...or else his motor would've blown and the 12.9 would've never happened...but thats not heavily modded still, think about it...clutch flywheel combo: $850-$900, 2.6" pulley with 60 pnd. injectors: $300, tune: $350 = $1550 and a car that runs a 12.9 versus a 14.6-14.8 stock...this is why i argue that we have the best "bang for the buck" car.......

The guy is Rob Archer (Fast06SS) on this very forum, he's at the top 2 of the modded LSJ :

2.)Fast06SS,12.86@109.13 w/1.93 60', I/E/CD/T/2.5"/DR's
3.)CobaltSS1,13.18@108.05 w/2.11 60',I/GMH/E/2.6"/T/ST
4.)Enufpwr,13.20@106.13 w/2.03 60', I/E/T/2.5"/CD/DP/DR's

Not at all.....stage 3 is like 3300 but you can now get it cheaper from vendors....and that right there puts down 300-320 whp....which is like mid 12's....and would destroy a stock heaton supercharged cobalt unless it was on nitrous...meaning stock supercharger but smallest pulley that makes the most hp...

A friend of mine has a stage 3 srt4 that has run 11.8 at 118 with bolt ons lol

Stage 1 =$300........... no real change
Stage 2 = $850.......... 12.8-13.2 range
Stage 3 = $3,000....... 11.8-12.2 range as is

You can go aftermarket like I did and run mid 11's for about $4,000.

I can totally believe those times. Our cars have MASSIVE potential with little work. They just need traction and a good 60'...

I agree 100%. I would be willing to bet with a 2.9 and tune and my news mods I'll be in high 12s for sure.

With the trap speeds that we are hitting, I wouldn't doubt it. Wheel hop, traction mods and a good 60 foot and we're golden

Time is likely. Car must be gutted, upgraded axles, motor mounts, and slicks

Guys the truth is with traction you only need 105MPH to go 12's, a friend of mine was running 13.3's@101-102 all day yesterday in a FWD on slicks cutting low 1.8 60ft's.

R&C_rallSS with your trap and a set of DR's you should be 12.9's all day long, the key is the first 330ft.

I know i keep bringing up grand prixs...

but a local member here was hitting 12.3's at 106mph consistantly...

its all about the low end and the launch. You only need a 105mph trap to get a 12 second grand prix, basically

The Cobey has more then enough power to get some damn good times, but she needs traction and wheel hop mods. Just has to get out the hole faster

Well, I cut 2.2 60 foots with bald tires....when I get new wider/grippier tires, and fix my axle, i'll make sure I go back down to the track....

My tires have 34,000 miles on them lol and still going
