SES, then randomly shut off....

so i was just driving my ss/sc and i had to go threw this construction area 2 times in a matter of 5mins. there was some crazy dust they were blowin all around and after i went through it, my ses light came on, then dash read 'engine power reduced', then 'engine disabled' and i rolled to a stop. i let it sit for a couple, checked everything over, then fired it up. so i have an injen intake and other than that all stock. did too much dirt just hit a sensor then? anything to look out for?

if you have a filter on your car then there shouldn't be any dust getting to the maf sensor

yes i have a filter. its a injen kit. i didnt know if since its an open fender-well intake that it was being overloaded with dirt or something and in-turn tripping a sensor.

maybe. If there was enough dust to completely clog the filter so very little air was getting in... but that would be ALOT of dirt and dust.

hard for me to say. I don't think there's an update or anything about it. If you're still under warranty take it to the dealer.

If you went over some really bumpy terrain the pcm could've taken a hard knock and damaged it. Chances are if the pcm is malfunctioning the dealer will replace it under warranty.

warranty is up. im over the mileage. so i dunno the best way to go about this now. i assume just take it to the dealer and buy one and have it put in or is there a better way to go about it. im sure the dealer will rape me $-wise

Take a good look at the connectors on it and examine for broken wires etc.It does move alot in the slot it sits in and maybe that hose that runs over top of it chaffed a wire.

ya ill check that after work, just to be safe..good call.

i had the code reset last night, any chacne that the problem is fixed by the reseet? i cant see how the pcm can have some sort of physical problem (aside from the connection mentioned above). so i dunno if i can just have it reflashed (maybe just upgrade to a stage kit while im at it) or if i physically will have to replace the unit? also, can the Injen have anything to do with this? its been on for a while but itll throw a lean code every once in awhile (maybe like 5 times total since its been on) then it goes right back off.
